The Good, The Bad, and The Really Messed Up

THE GOOD:

Spent June 10 - 15th in Germany.  Attended the annual Engine Expo in Stuttgart.  After each conference day's agendas were completed I got to walk around some of the really beautiful and scenic areas of Stuttgart and Munich (about a 2-1/2 our drive, unless you have a Porsche,BMW, Audi or Mercedes that can take FULL advantage of the unlimited speed portions of the AutoBahn)

THE BAD:

Missed the last day of the conference.  When I got out of bed I had the worst headache that I have EVER experienced.  Every step reverberated through my skull and spine like a drum skin.

THE REALLY MESSED UP

Flew 9-1/2 hours from Stuttgart to Atlanta in intense pain, dizzy, weak, and disoriented.  The passport control guy said I looked a little too wobbly and call paramedics.  A Delta rep came into the exam room to observe.  She tried REAL hard to keep me from boarding the plane.  I imposed my will and got on the plane anyway.  Had wifey take a cab to the airport since I was in no condition to drive.  Went to Henry Ford Hospital Saturday morning.

Viral Meningitis

Had a CT scan and a spinal tap.  Yes, they are that uncomfortable.

It's Tuesday and I'm still at HFH.  The headache has leveled off to a normal headache.  I am feeling weaker than I ever have in my life.  The dizziness comes and goes.  The fever is hanging around 102-103.  I can't leave until I have a normal temp for 24 hours.  Have tickets to see Stanley Clarke / George Duke tomorrow night.  My family will still go.  My neighbor will use my ticket.  Supposed to be having a rehearsal tonight for a private party my band is contracted to play at Friday.  My kids and two of their friends were going to be or "opening act".  None of those things is gonna happen.

All things considered, God is Good.

In all honesty, in my current condition I don't have the mental capacity to take on you, LL or Cordney anytime soon.  But when I'm healthier, it's on!

This is the first time since Thursday that I've turned on my iPad.

OMGness, I'm so sorry to hear that, James. And I'm so glad you're okay. I've had a lumbar puncture before and MY GOD ALMIGHTY FROM HEAVEN I can't believe you called it "uncomfortable." Are you kidding? That's like saying a Detroit winter is a little chilly or Detroit's politics are a little messy or Kwame Kilpatrick made a little mistake or told a little white lie or the Detroit Lions are.... okay, I'll stop there. :D

Just wanted to make you smile. But seriously, spinal taps HURT LIKE HELLO KITTY!!!!! I'm glad you're okay. I'll be praying that fever comes down so fast that it could ONLY be God. Love you bruh. When stuff like this happens, I can't help but think what the story could have been and I'm truly grateful you're okay.

Now.... in light of the THT thread discussion and all Jonathan's gazillion corrections and facepalms and jokes on BLY, I am sorry but that catch should go down in history. That joint was epic. And I love the quiet way BLY pointed it out. Too cute! :D You get mad cool points for that BLY.

Praying you feel better real soon. Viral menengitis is no joke. It's part of what rendered my daughter unable to walk or talk for the better part of a week. I'm glad you're progressing well.

Had an MRI a couple hours ago.  Unless something tanks tonight, I'll be going home in the morning.

MRI....imagine you are a bullet.  And you've just been loaded into a chamber.  And you cannot move.  For 10-15 minutes at a time.  And there are all sorts of weird sounds going on around you. That about sums it up.  Very surreal.  All the while you are in there you're thinking...."who comes up this stuff?".  Or should that be..."wHo coMes Up with tHat?"
