The Prophetic Prima Donna

Quote

In my editorial role at Charisma magazine I come across all kinds. There are many among the nameless, faceless generation who walk in a level of humility and honor that I aspire to. Then there are apostolic abusers and prophetic prima donnas, divas and all-out “exalted prophetesses” who walk in pride and pretense and don’t seem to care who knows it.

A recent encounter with a prophetic prima donna got me thinking: How do Christians with international ministries, book deals and large staffs become such drama queens (and kings) who think more highly of themselves than they ought?

This just an article that I came across on Facebook and I just wanted to get you guys opinion on it. Mainly, how do we advertise our ministries without glorifying ourselves? Why do people follow Prophetic Prima Donna's? I mean what does a person gain from following a Prima Donna?

Impossible  in my opinion short of not mentioning yourself in the advertising but then that defeat the purpose right...

To be fair some Prophetic Prima donna's actually were operating in their gift that God gave them they just let it go to their head sort of like Samson.

People are more happy going to a show and getting no results than going to church getting fed. I can stay at home and watch TV if I wanna see a show.....Sheeeesh! :-\

I would caution against judging a person's gift according to their flaws. Asking what a person could gain from a prophet is implying that they can't really prophesy and don't really have a word from God because of their attitude, outward appearance or behavior.

Not to mention a lot of these so called prima donnas are judged based on their looks not their behavior or attitude. I would just use caution when discussing stuff like this.
When you're in love you don't want to fall asleep bc reality is finally better than your dreams.

I didn't see anything that said this was based on looks. I'm smart enough not to go down that road. My discussion was meant to be able to tell a prima donna from a good leader. My bad if that wasn't understood.

I think we can be wise enough to separate someone's gifts from their character. Too many blindly follow the former, while overlooking the latter. Like a gifted speaker, musician or singer who treats underlings like dirt. God's anointing (choice) may be upon them, they may be celebrated, but count on it, they will reap what they sow, their attitudes and actions will come back to bite them...

Vonne you might want to reread my post. I didn't say (or imply in any way) that you or anyone else said that a prima donna's status is based on looks. You may have missed my point sis.

What is your idea of a prima donna? My idea of a prima donna is someone who has to have all the attention on themselves, a person who hardly ever acknowledges God, a person who tells others to do things they refuse to do, etc.

I think we can be wise enough to separate someone's gifts from their character. Too many blindly follow the former, while overlooking the latter. Like a gifted speaker, musician or singer who treats underlings like dirt. That's true!!

Speaking of Prima Donnas - here's a role the late Andy Griffith played in the 1950's...

Some takes on the Media and its role here. AG's character's charisma helped his ascent, but his character (or lack of it) broke him down...
