Worship Service
« on: July 21, 2012, 11:44:14 AM »
Hey fellow bass players. I need some tips. During a worship service at the end of some songs sometimes it's common to hold that note out. That also goes for when backing the preacher up and the drums and organ or piano kick in. There's been many times where worship escalates while holding that note out. I notice that bass players will hold that note but will also do some cool licks. I can never figure out what to do during those times. A lot of times I'll just do a fast climb to the next octave but I want to expound on that. Give me some tips please and thanks.

Play around with the pentatonic and blues scales.  Alot of these runs come from those scales.  If I can find some examples, I'll post them.

A lot of cool licks come out of the diminished scale and some minor scales also. But something that i was told real early playing was "If you can hum it, you can play it" So hum the lick you want to play and then on your practice time, find what you are humming
