Sometimes I be in awe just listening to Daryl Darden, Leon Perry, Greg Happy Guitar Haynes play the guitar. I mean these guys play so fast how do they do it? They understand the jazz concept and theory and everything. It's just completely remarkable.

One of the keys to great lead playing is great rhythm understanding.
In that video...any one of those guys could play the rhythm chords to that Benson song...and because they knew the rhythm, they knew what scales and notes to play over the chords, changes and all.
So, you want to learn how to play great leads?
Go learn how to play great rhythm guitar. Learn scales, progressions, chords, inversions, substitutions, etc...
Music theory is not always music reality.

Online resources, books, private lessons, music store, school, etc...

The stuff is all out there for free on the web. Gibson Guitar has free lessons, Berklee Music School has free lessons, Seymour Duncan has free lessons (I just found out today), and on and on.
