Essentially, the picture quality is way better. It doesn't "do" much different, though there are features of my current TV that I have yet to use. But, picture quality is most important to me. I just came from my parents'. They have an HD TV in their living room. The picture was relatively clear, but seeing theirs versus mine, I see now the importance of having a higher refresh rate. Also, there's a feature on my TV that eliminates that black border around some HD broadcasts. I didn't realize I had that feature until I watched my parents' TV and saw the black borders. It hit me that I never see those borders at home. There are other things, but the bottom line is picture quality is important to me.
