Boss Micro BR-80 Digital Recorder

I was thinking about getting this little device. But thing is I was wondering how to connect it to your amp. I would like to know more about before I buy it, but it looks like cool device though.

Guys do you think I should get the Boss Micro BR 80 Digital Recorder or a metronome for christmas? Im having a hard time trying to decide. But the thing is I just dont want to be limited to a 4/4 timing. Where as the Boss Micro 80 has drum beats you can practice with.
