Piano Wrist Positioning
(1/1)
Mysteryman:
I trying to read up some more on this for different opinions but I have started to try to play with my wrist moving more parallel up and down the keyboard. Ive heard different opinions on the directions your wrist should move. Avoiding twisting your wrist when playing scales and arpeggios seems to force you to play using your weaker fingers.
ltljake:
What is important are the position of your elbows. They should be as level with your wrist as possible. To avoid strain on your wrist seat height is important. Playing with weaker fingers is actually a good thing. There are Hannon exercises that target weaker fingers. The key is muscle memory. Try to play at the same seating position or as close to it as you can.
Mysteryman:
Yeah I definitely try to sit with my elbows level otherwise I start having issues. I'm not as fluid with elbows below the keys.
