Just Gotta' Ask....
« on: August 12, 2013, 09:33:22 PM »
Would you trust someone who says that they have been delivered from homosexuality?  To put it in context: suppose your grown daughter calls you up and says she has found the love of her life.  She goes on and on about how great this guy is and at some point in the conversation makes mention of the fact that Mr. Right used to be gay.  What?  Hold up....wait.  How would you react to a situation like this?

A guy asked me something similar; "Are you willing to minister to a homosexual person 1on1?"

I gave him my stance, which is.....I give everybody the benefit of the doubt, because forgiveness has no record of wrongs. However, the word tells us to flee fornication and immorality. So no, Im not running from gay cats, but if in fact one wants to get a little close, in an obviously over the top way, in private environment, then Id have to make my exit.

Like I have this situation coming up, its a cat I know and he wants to be roomies in the conference hotel to defray costs. He admittedly still struggles with some sort of sexual temptation, of which Im not sure. But he seems a little suspect because of his random calls to just talk, even at 10 and 11pm (flag). Idk how hes tempted, but if it so happens to be by a strapping young black guy in a hotel room, I cant make myself available for that.

Ill share some word with you, after you get dressed and come downstairs in the open

No, I would not trust them.  Many homosexuals really would like to conform with what society says is proper and with what they feel that their Christianity requires.  You got to know that they are good and bad people just like anyone else.  It is not hard to see a homosexual person who is trying to change treating a women very nice.  He really wants to change.  So often, though, it is just not in the cards.  They revert.  Hearts are broken.  It is hard to offer advice without full facts but personally, I would advise my daughter about the perils of such a relationship.  Some people even bounce back and forth. I just wouldn't trust him if he was a homosexual and lived that lifestyle in the past. I would be very concerned for my daughter.

On the flipside now, I have a few friends who have changed, and I trust them, because I have seen the fruits of their new heart. Then theres cats that are sincerely working on it, they would even have a little more latitude

I'd pray for a nice dose of the spirit of discernment concerning this matter and apply some I John 4:1 to it as well.

T, a person would want to, but the worry is,  by the time they show otherwise, where have you gone?  How deep in the water are you?

You yourself don't have to be in it that deep at all....just observe and decide accordingly.  My original intent for asking this question isn't not that someone of a homosexual orientation would try and "jump your bones" so to speak, but rather if we trust God like we say we do.  If someone testifies that God had delivered them from this thing; are we willing to fully accept them and treat them as such?  Or do we allow our suspicions to direct our actions.  If it were me, and my daughter at some point in the future (she's no where near marrying age) chose to marry a man who claims deliverance, I have to admit that I as her father would be very skeptical.
