No problem. The box is just the pattern for a scale. Most of the time its the major scale, but of course there are others(Minor, Pentatonic, Etc.) and each will have its pattern. You can move the pattern from key to key and as long as you use the same numbers, it doesn't matter about the key. The pattern for the major scale is below. Start on either the B,E, or A string, any fret.

Where there is no dash, you skip a fret. Remember that going down from the 1, you have the same as the top row in reverse only lower (Remember that the 8 and 1 are the same note), thus the 5(going down) is going to be right under the 1. Skip a fret going down and you have the 4. You can play a 1-4-5 going up or down and still remain pretty much in the box. Going up from the 8, you have the 2, and on. When you go from the 1 to the 4, then the box for the 4 applies, etc. I am speaking from the top of my head, so if it is not clear, holler.
