Drum Isolation Booths
« on: March 14, 2005, 09:17:04 PM »

Does anyone know a manufacturer who specializes in building customized drum booths for churchs.  My church is in the process of building a new sanctuary with high ceilings, and I'm told by the sound engineers installing the new PA system that the drums will have to be totally enclosed and miked.  I'm aware of Clearsonic.com and the products they have.  But I was wondering if there is a company that could build a drum booth that would fit in with the decor of the sanctuary and not be a distraction or eyesore.

...question for you; will your church have sound paneling in the sanctuary or straight dry wall?

LOL! All good fam.  Outside of sound paneling though, depending on the size of the room, using flat or semi-flat paint on the wall helps a bunch.  I was in one spot that had gloss paint on every wall and the ceiling and no carpet on the floor.  You could hear the sound skipping around in eight different places at once.  Drove me batty.

Your church needs to get a new group of engineers because what they are saying is not true. high ceilings do not force you to have to build a drum booth and isolate the drums.

If your church desire a booth the you need to have your building contractors to contact a studio builder to do proper sound reinforcement to the pulpit area and sanctuary. plexiglass alone is not the best option because it is too reflective.

the magazine Worship Facilities is what you should be reading. In it they cover all this and have listings for service people. www.worshipfacilities.com and you can get a free subscription.
Aside from that contact Celebration Church in Nashville. The have a custom booth Built into their facility and can probably recommend their builder.
