Have you looked at these??

They are in the key of C, but its fairly easy to transpose them.

C / Bb-Eb-Gb          *Cm7 (b5) = C half-diminished chord
F / A-Db-Eb-Ab       *F7 #5/#9
Bb / Ab-C-Eb          *Ab/Bb

This one is really pretty.

I'm having trouble spotting 7-3-6 in a song.  Can someone name a common song or hymn that contains this progression?

as for me, the way I would play this if it popped up in a song in front of me (in key of C):

B / A - C - D - F

E / D - F - G - B

A / G - B - C - E

Diatonic, but sounds smooth, its basically the Bill Evans' right hand rootless voicing approach I've been using the last few months.  It even sounds pretty nice without the roots played in the LH

One song it's found in is "Because of Who You Are" when they say the words "....I will lift my voice and sing..." I'll use the key Db to show you:

Key Db  LH/RH

because of who You are I will
C / Bb-Eb-Gb  lift my
F / A-Db-Eb-Ab  voice and
Bb / Ab-C-Eb  sing, Lord I...

This is from the version done by Bishop Paul S. Morton here:
Bishop Paul S. Morton: Because Of Who You Are

It occurs round the :47 - :51 mark then again at the 1:40 - 1:45 mark
Real musicians play in every key!!!
