It's About That Tyme Again
« on: May 04, 2015, 12:37:17 PM »
Graduation Season is upon us oh my brothers and sisters.  It is essential that we prepare ourselves to survive and make the time pass with as much comfort as possible unless you are that person who is completely engaged with the ceremony 100%.  For the rest of us there are some essentials that must be observed.

1.  If you own a smart phone make sure it's charged and well able to go at lease 4 hours.
     a.  It is further essential to bring your headphones if you like to listen to music.

2.  Sit as far away from the stage as it be possible.  Your side activities will go little noticed that way.

3.  If you think you might need nap, make sure a good pair of shades are on your person (preferably shades that will mask the visibility of your eyes).

4.  If you're not eating prior to the event, be sure to bring snacks and your favorite beverage.

5.  If you choose to bring kids, use them to your advantage.  Don't let them frustrate you with their restlessness.  Make elongated trips to the restrooms and vending if applicable.

Best practices include but are not limited to those listed above.  The time will go by before you know it and you'll be well on your way to the restaurant or other venue for sustenance.  I have TWO COLLEGE graduations to attend this weekend and I will be prepared for battle.

two college joints; ouch!

Wear your walking shoes because parking is always crazy, pack your patience, and maybe a cushion for hard bleachers

The thing they never tell you about college...having to attend graduation. HAHAHA! These are great tips, though.
Despite our communication technology, no invention is as effective as the sound of the human voice.

It's hard to believe my baby girl will be a junior in the fall.  She's studying abroad in Argentina next semester. Man, where does the time go?  Soon enough, I'll be needing to employ some of these tips.

Okay, so this is how it went.  The first one was at Alabama State University and all did go according to plan.  I got in a nice little nap, I got a chance to listen to some music on the ole iphone and surfing of web/apps.  The time went by fast considering the duration was about 4 hours.  One oversight would have been my underestimation of the heat that would be generated by YOU PEOPLE.  I figured we'd be alright sense the graduation was inside and in a fairly modern building.  It was still scorching.

6. Always assume it's gonna be hot and consider measures for defense.  Wet rag, portable fan, frozen beverages, etc.

Graduation number 2 was at Talladega College. It was outside at 9 am and thus much cooler than the graduation inside.  It only lasted 2 hours and they had much fewer graduates.  Another unintended tactic was also applied.  We showed up 30 minutes late.  So all in all I didn't have to employ any other tactics there.  The atmosphere was more open and relaxed so I was even able to walk around during the ceremony get choice pictures and enjoy the outdoors.  Piece of cake.

my nephew graduated from highschool. Their graduation was outside we had to deal with dropping temperatures and cold rain/sprinkles

but because of that the (and his last name being brown) he walked across the stage less than an hour or so after the start.
