Leslie speeds and sound
« on: March 21, 2005, 07:44:32 PM »
Hey for all you organist, which leslie speeds do you prefer, slow(chorale) and fast(tremolo)  or off(not spining) and fast, or all three speeds?  I prefer all three speeds, but I really like off and fast, because I like that off
effect of the leslie not spining.  It gives the organ a "straight-tube sound" and you can hear the percussion and runs clearer.

Our leslie is only a 2 speed. I use both slow and fast speeds, I like to switch it on and off say like every 3 or 4 seconds like alot of organ players generally do. When I feel like getting behind the leslie, I'll pull the motor plug out of the treble horn so when I switch to slow it stops spinning. Usually I'm just too lazy to unplug it then after Sunday night go and plug it back in since the other organ players don't really like the sound, lol. I like the stop effect, has a bolder, more defined sound. And like you said, straight-tube sound, I love it  8)
