Jimmy was and still is the best B-3 organist. Of course, you have Joey, Lonnie Smith and a new young kid name Wil Blades (young white 21 yr old) who has the foundation of Jimmy Smith along with knowledge of contemporary styles.

Very nice, C3!  :D So, just curious: do you play gospel music in addition to jazz?

I am between churches musically, I don't play for any church.  I still go to church.  I came out to this site b/c I go to gospel churches and it has been very helpful to me in understanding what's going on there.  By and by I think I would like to play in a gospel church, but I'm easing my way in there-fortunately there is some crossover with gospel and jazz.

Wil Blades is good, Larry Goldings and Sam Yahel are some other new guys, they play in the style of Larry Young.  Goldings is kind of like an 'old' new guy.

Hamby, you are good. I'm listening and thinking...this {opposite of black} boy   got soulful style. Implement some of those riffs and runs in gospel music and you got it! I truly enjoyed.
