I'm learning to play the Organ at my church and I noticed that our Hammond does not have a Leslie speaker unit nor switch. The Organ just has the built in speakers and also a connecting speaker unit (Looks like a Leslie). Is there a way to convert the Speaker unit into a Leslie unit or do I need to buy a Leslie unit? Any input would be helpful.
Thanks,

Sounds like you have an A-100 or some small spinet. Do you have a full pedalboard? If not, it's one of the spinet types. If so, then you have an A-100 type.
Looks like a leslie?
Type opening the back of the speaker cabinet. DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING! If you see a cylinder-looking thingy at the bottom and tv-antenna-looking thingy at the top then you have a leslie. If you just see the cylinder at the bottom, it's still a leslie, just a 145 or 125 type, most likely. If you just have speakers, then it's just an amp.
If you're getting a good sound, leave it alone. That's just my opinion. If not, then try getting a leslie.
No switch? Is it just missing? That's what I'm guessing.

You could have a Hammond Tone Cabinet. Look for a brand name. Hammond cabinets do not have rotating parts (although some of them are pretty strange...)

Thanks! I will check tonight and let you guys know. The Organ does have Full pedal. I'll have my pastor find the books that he was telling that he has on the Organ. IT was given to him some years ago, he was told it was a concert organ.
Is a Leslie needed to really get that traditional gospel sound, or can I get the same sound by adjusting the drawbars?

Yes, you need a Leslie to get the gospel sound. But...Motion Sound makes several nice units and there are electronic Leslie simulators that do a respectable job.
No, you can't get it from the drawbars.
(But sound is very relative to the playing - and I think that people forget this fact. For example: Hammondman! plays me under the table. So he would sound better than I if he were playing the worse clone ever made and I was playing a mint 1956 B3 thru a pair of 122's!)

Well just found out what model of Hammond my church has. It's a Hammond D-100 model. I believe the leslie model 122 will connect to it. I probably will not find out either unless it's an easy hook up.

D-100 to 122 - not an easy hook-up (if you mean just plug it in, unless the organ was modified with a kit...)
A tech will have no problem connecting them. For a tech it is an easy hook-up.
