I'm grooving with a four string Warwick and running a SWR SM 900Watt  and a 1000watt power handling 4X10 Swr Cabinet .

A friend of mine did some tight stuff on my Bass just recently. He adjusted my strings at an angle to where my E string is up where it is really nice to hammer and the others get lower towards the G string where I can hammer, slap, pluck or even tap very easily.....

God Bless You,
jayzee

What up fellas! (And the lady or two that I've seen post here).  I'm glad to find this messgae board.

I go by VernDog.  Been playing bass for about 10 yers.  Probably should be better than I am, but I've got the 9 to 5 and two kids, so my priorities get shifter every now and then.

As for what I play.... I'm very fortunate to have acquired a Fodera Imperial 6 string with a Chestnut top and a 36 inch scale.

My rig is an Eden Navigator with a Crest CA-9 Power amp.

For cabs I have 2 Epifani 110's, 2 Epifani 112's and an Epifani 310.

I look forward to hittin' ya'll up for tips and tricks.

Keep it low!

Which modeling amp do you use?  Behringer or the Bean Pod?

Does it work well for you?  I've been thinking about getting one of those.

I have th Behringer V-amp. If your on a strict budget this lil baby will do just fine. It's no Boss but you won't find a Boss modeler/effects  floor unit for $100. I've useed it live at church it did the job well. I just wish they would have put an on/off switch on it.

If I'm not mistaken, isn't the GSR a Lower model?

So basicly you have a high end sports car with budget Pep Bpys tires?

Post by: djgroovin on August 24, 2005, 12:08:52 PM
LOL!  So you guys want to clown my setup...

Yeah, the GSR is the low end.  I am looking to upgrade eventually.  I'm waiting until my skills are upgraded to another level.  A new bass will be my reward.  I am thinking about a BTB 6 string.  I can get a one under 1G.  I really want to nail down these walking bass lines first.  Chord construction seems to be key in creating bass lines.  Right now I'm stuck in playing more scalular stuff and I want to really broaden my note choices.  I will post when I get the new bass.

BTW I do have a high end sports car, but they need new tires.

I am the proud owner of a new Ibanez SRX 300. The store wanted $400 but I got it for $145 out of pocket. Store credit and a trade in allowed this to happen!

I just looked this bass up on the internet now it says it can go for $430 but it's passive mine is active. Oh well dont matter it sounds great anyhow and it fits nicely into my budget  :D  thank you father for all my blessings counted and uncounted! Praise God!

Does sound like he already has a good set up. I'd like to get a head, cab soon. I want to start with 300 to 400 watts and 1 2x10 cab. A head from 300 to 400 can push a 2x10 and a 1x15 which is what i'd like to have by 1st of the year. i do have a refund coming

Well I've got a MIM Jazz Bass Deluxe V.  I use it mainly for recording and I'm looking for an amp for it.  This is my second one; the first was stolen by an alleged Christian and I got this one used for $300.00.  It's good as new.  The bass has many features in common with the more expensive American Deluxe Jazz.  It has the older 1/4" slug magnet pick-ups and the John Shur designed 9-volt pre-amp.  Current models are upgraded with Vintage Noisless pick-ups (American Deluxe's have the new SCN pick-ups) and an 18-volt pre-amp.

OK, I ordered my new bass this weekend.  I decided to get the BTB 1206E.  I'm making the leap from 4 to 6.

So now I will have new tires on the sports car "MikeGee" :D

I'll post picks when it gets in.  My shop said it should be in by the end of the week.  I got 40% off of the retail price of this bass and a case.

The only real leap is in your mind.  You muscle memory will take a little time to develop, but take it from me, once you get used to the extra range, walking up and down that B string and ACTUALLY using the C string on chords,  man, you'll wonder why you didn't do it sooner.

I like those individual bridge asemplies on the Ibanez Basses.  The only other maker that uses them that I'm aware of is Sukop (See the Pic below.) So please, get back in touch and let us know how you like it!!

John Pattiticci did the same thing while playing for Chic Corea's Elektric Band.  He auditoned and got the gig on a Fender Jazz and bought a 6-string bass later that day.

Beautiful bass, Peavey also using the seperate saddles on their Cirrus serious.

I've been debating this topic with myself I love the 4 string. I'm a simple bass player and I like to keep it that way through my playing. I donno

Some people don't, the labels tend to disappear. then I'm not even sure if the speaker on the inside has a label.

I like Ibanez, because of the small neck and its light weight body.  It's also less expensive than most other companys like Fender.  It also sounds really great. I think that's why Ibanez is everywhere.

I play the SR 506 five string.

Warwick Corvette 6 string with the Aguilar OBP3 pre-amp. If any warwick owners out there want to really open up the tone of your axe then rip out the cheap sounding stock MEC pre-amp and stick in an after market pre-amp. The difference is night and day.
I plan on getting a Streamer Stage 1 in the future.
