If I was looking at it like that...I probably say the same thing.. :D
-
So how did you think about it??
-
I don't think so much about the hows and why to anything that I do..
I really did that just cause I like to change keys in 3rds (like diminished chords...every 3 notes) and did 2 5 1 to each one. I know that I can do that cause E is the minor to C#. G is the minor to G, then slip back to E tthen finished in C#
-
Nice....your way of thinking about it is mmmuuusccchh easier to do on the fly than what I was saying. I like. :D

I'm about to leave for the weekend, and I really want to know the answer to this. When you say every three notes, which three notes are you talking about? And, did you come up with the melody first or the chord progression?
See ya on Monday.

He said change notes keys in "3rd's" as in the intervals, not every 3 notes.

Great post. Great discussion.

Actually, now that I am actually sitting down at my board trying to play the progression, I am not even sure if that progression can be considered in Db, because it is coooonstantly changing keys.
-
Then the key will be..."any key"

I don't agree with that statement.
4hisglory, your explanation above about tritone substitution places this progression squarely within Db. To me, a key change is more obvious. For example, listen to "Ribbon in the Sky", which obviously changes keys twice from Db to D to Eb. One can definitely hear the key change in that song. However, I don't feel like the posted progression has an abrupt key change. Further, it’s OK to play some chords that don’t belong. The spice is what makes music interesting.
This is just my opinion. I may be wrong.

That's what makes it ssssoooooooo good. :D
