Title: Recording From Digital Piano to Computer

I want to post some clips to this site. What's the best way to record from my digital piano to my computer? My digital piano has a midi interfact. I know it's probably easy, but I don't have time to tinker for the best solution.

A simple thing to do would be:
- get a jack-to-jack lead (3.5mm, small-headphone-size)
- get a headphone-to-instrument converter (3.5->6.5mm)
- using these, connect the audio out of your keyboard to the line-in of your PC
- use a sound recorder on the PC (I recommend the free http://audacity.sourceforge.net). Audacity can also do mp3 generation.

and you should be done. You don't really need MIDI just to record yourself playing.....

That should read http://audacity.sourceforge.net . My mistake.

Elio, thanks, that sounds very logical and will save me some time.

Pardon me for being lazy, but could you also tell me about that MIDI? What would the MIDI give above the set up you described? What software and equipment would I need to get rolling with that? I'd be interested in doing some low-level mixing with my acoustic drums, acoustic guitar and maybe a singer, nothing serious though.
