OK.....
SOOOOOMMMEBODY wanted to get raw, like they had some skills....I'm not going to say any names, but you know who you are!

Anyyyyway, we're going to have to do some kneck chopping, since sooooomebody wanted to stick their kneck out....So...we're going to have a little BASS OFF!
Now, don't get all excited, we're going to have to break this down...
1. There will be 4 different groups of experience. (less than 1.5 years, less than 4, less than 9, and greater than 9...for you crazy fingered people out there)
2. Once you hear a post you have 1 hour (THAT'S 60 MINUTES) OR 1 day from the date of the last post, if you haven't heard it, to come up with a response, after that, you loose your turn and it goes to the next person.
3. Everyone that joins gets to make 5 posts before the thread is locked.
Now, don't try to be tricky. God'll know if you're being sly.

So, if you want to join, respond to this post with the group number you'll be in; we need at least two people for a group to start. Deadline for registration is Friday, October 14th at 8AM (YOUR TIME)
Groups by experience

GROUP 1: 0 - 1.5 years
GROUP 2: More than 1.5 years and less than 4 years
GROUP 3: 4 years and less than 9 years
GROUP 4: 9 years and more

I'm still looking for a drum loop for each group...as soon as I find a good one, I'll post it.
We're not starting until Saturday though. I think my timezone is first, so I'll call go.
Once we get the names for each group, they'll go, in order, alphabetically.

Ok...I don't want to make this complicated, but there have been a couple questions about the drum loop, so I'm posting the site I'm using to find the drum loop.

I already downloaded about 4 different variations, but I'm not sure exactly where I found them on here.
Anyway, we have about 15 1/2 hours until start time, so for the next 8 we can decide on a good loop. I'll post the ones that I'm looking at a little later, when I get my lunch break.

I actually started playing April of 2004. Thanks for the compliment. But I hardly think that I measure up to anyone that has posted any audio or video clips. I may have an accelerated knowledge of theory but my groove is definately suffering. I probably work harder on technique and theory than actually playing. I figued this would be a good time to measure up my skillz with the rest of you guys.
BTW...what do you mean "IF" you were participating? I was looking forward to learning some of your slap technique.

We still need to decide on a drum loop. Personally, I'd like one at a moderate, not too slow and not too fast. I'd also like to use the same drum loop for everyone, across all the groups, so the little guys, like me, can get some ideas from you heavy weights....
3 1/4 more hours until start! Let's try to get two more people, one for group three and one for group four. We still have a couple heavyweights hiding out there!

Indeed. I posted some on the Song Production board.
Wavpad will do just fine, but there are other free programs out there that give you more bells and whistles.

For those that don't have anything to record with, you can use Audiology. It's a free multi-track recording program, that's pretty easy to use.

If you're good with recording software, you can try Kristal AE. It's another free multi-track recording program, but it has a little more whistles.

Thanks B3. Are these actually free or are they trial versions?
I'm pretty cool with what I have. I use Cool Edit & SoundForge. I use either program to record our services for our online broadcast. I also have a multi-track program called Magix Music Maker.

They're both free. Kristal will ask you if you want to buy, but you just have to select that you're using it for "personal use".
There's another one called Anvil Studio, but they cut out some of the key features for the free version, so you either have to pay $20 dollars for the full version or just use the limited version.

I got my bass over a year ago and I have probably not practiced it a months worth of days. I missed the deadline so I guess I don't have to submit anything. Technically I should be in group 1.

Once we're finished, we can keep the groups going and work with each other, withing the group, to help bring us all up to the level of our most experienced player.
I don't know about you guys, but having these groups is really helping me understand the things those guys in group 3 and 4 are doing. I can hear how the things being played in group 1 naturally progress, through the groups, to the things being played in group 4.
....So, what do you all think? Like the idea?

It was just the tone in the post didn't seem like you were joking. I do understand that it's hard to get across what you really mean in a forum like this. It's just that some people start attacking each other easily here, so I didn't want to see that start to happen in the bass room. I think most of us are an older bunch than in the other rooms.

I BELIEVE IT'S HEALTHY TO HAVE SOMEONE BETTER YOU. KEEPS YOU HUMBLE. I USE TO HAVE TWO GUYS ON ISLAND HERE THAT COULD MOP ME UP. NOW I'M HOLDING IT DOWN HERE ON OKINAWA. spirit, I was in okinawa a few years back. I was on the Marine base there. I actually used to live there for a while when I was younger and my dad was stationed there. One thing you must remember, if you get off of those islands its alot more fish in the US sea... :))

Ok guys....
I thought that having 1 track would be good, but it seems we're starting to slow down. I know it's partly because of work days though....but anyway...We're going to switch drum tracks, to keep things interesting.
Let's switch to drum loop #3. So, once everyone in your group has posted, the next person should just switch to this drum track.
