Title: Sound Modules???
Post by: B3Organist_007 on October 20, 2005, 06:28:19 PM
When you have a sound module and a controller linked together, is there a delay and defects  in the sound when you press the keys? Also what does an actually rack (the stand you place you sound module) look like? Could somebody give me a link to a picture on web?

Don't strees. The stands for most racks look kinda like a TV stand. If you wanna check some out just go to the websites of SAM ASH OR THE GUITAR CENTER.

I havent really seen a rack, but I have seen someone put a rack with a double keyboard stand( the controller on bottom and rack on top.

Not a rack I mean a sound module on a double keyboard stand instead of a rack.

They have cases that rack-mounted modules can slide into, when you have more than one rack module that you need to mount. If not, a keyboard stand, or anything that you feel is good, would work.

There can be delay. That used to be a problem some years ago. I haven't seen it with new equipment though. Some modules allow you to use USB for the midi connection, in that case, the data can tranfer faster, so you don't get any latency.

Also, not all controllers are alike, you a certain keyboard, Motif ES 6, for instance, may support things like AfterTouch while your module may not, in that case, you'd experience some functionality degredation, if you're used to using AfterTouch.
