How many of you all take your shoes off when playing the organ or at least one shoe off? Just wondering.

I confess. I didn't want to do it, but when I came to my new church organist had hers off and like a week after that I got caught off guard and I didn't have my "organ shoes". So I took my heals off like her..one at first, then one thing lead to another and both were off. I dont play like that all the time though depends what kinda shoes I have on.

Left shoe is off. I wear heels....and the heel-toe thing don't work for me with pointed heels.

I take off the left shoe when I'm on the organ, but I usually end up with both shoes off because I take them off on the drums (that's hard to play in heels, too) so if I start on the drums, i'm shoeless throughout.

My first lady's pretty good, she plays in heels (organ that is) and never takes them off.

I have to play with my left shoe off, I wear size 16, if I play with shoes I push two pedals at a time, and besides that I'm 6'5" so the shoe off also ensures that I don't bump my knees on the bottom of the console when I'm really getting into the basslines

I always play with my shoes on, Im used to it so it doesnt feel right with them off. I wear size 13 so it was kinda hard when i first learned.

Shoes on.  It feels better that way.  Socks are far to slippery when you start running those fast bass lines.

Shoes off.  When I first learned I had big tennis shoes, didnt own a pair of dress shoes!, and couldnt help hitting more than one pedal at the same time.  So now that's more comfortable to me.  I think you can run faster with shoes though.

My Godmother can kill an organ with 6" heels and run bassline faster than you'd believe.  My friend will have some huge Tims on and tear the bass both ways without missing a note or hitting one wrong one.  I dont know how they do it.
