I have been entertaining the thought of having a second bass, a five string, to just "go where I cannot go" with my 4 string.
I have three children under the age of 6 and my wife is expecting twin girls, so you see why I say "entertaining the thought" because I ain't gettin' another instrument soon!
Anyway- long-story-short, I tuned my bass strings to BEAD and I absolutley LOVE it! I feel like I have a new bass (thank you Lord).
I get a little cornfused (that confused for the rest of the world, I'm from Indiana :) ) because the notes are not where I expect them, but this new challenge makes it a bit exciting.
Does anyone play their 4 string this way? Any tips for the transition? (EADG -> BEAD or 4 string -> 5)

I've tuned my 4-string BEAD before. It sounded nice and deep but I needed the G so I plan to get a 5 string. That's probably the best way to get the full sounds.
