The speaker for our Black History Celebration at church spoke about Jesus being "the MISSING PIECE" in the lives of most African-Americans. That was the title of my play yesterday that HE wasn't at....so the message had to be confirmation.
Then, he just broke out of his message and went on a tangent about being called to do something by GOD and receiving nothing but RESISTANCE from people who CLEARLY SEE what GOD has called and ANOINTED YOU to do....and how they are afraid of change, but you will not be truly happy until you fulfill what it is that HE has called you to do.
Then he went back into his message saying "Sorry y'all but the Lord said somebody needed to hear that". Two choir members looked at me and I YELLED OUT A BIG OLD OUCH!

Lorenzo and the guys.......Y'all KNOW this is just infatuation (I guess). BUT CHECK THIS OUT......MAN 2 MAN.....I NEED Y'ALL ON THIS ONE! There is a girl (woman, young lady, female) who went to our church about 15 years ago when I was a teenager (and a 31 in the waist...lol) and we were "the church couple". To me, it was an honor because she was SO FINE and to her it was an honor to be dating the Pastor's grandson. Nothing more/nothing less. HOWEVER, over the years her family moved away.
She got pregnant and had a little girl. She got married to a man who dogged her out and beat her, and in the midst of it all she would always call my grandfather from wherever she moved to for my number and he'd give it to her. She always spoke of her LOVE for me and said that being married to him made her realize that she had walked out on a good thing (and so forth).
Well, I slept in yesterday morning and got to church in time for the end of service. THEY HAD ABOUT 15 PEOPLE TO JOIN THE FUNERAL PARLOR YESTERDAY AND SHE WAS ONE OF THEM!
As I was walking in the sanctuary, she was standing there crying at the mic and telling Pastor that she was "back home to stay" and that there was "one person that she really wanted to be there to share that with but she didn't see them out there". When I got within her view, she broke down again and we talked for a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time after church. Seeing her face, I really think the bug bit me all over again! During the 3pm Black History program yesterday, the choir SHOWED OUT ROYALLY and people were cheering the choir on. But there was one person who kept YELLING "Direct that choir boy!" and my face had to have turned about 90 shades of red. She even went and got me a paper towel to wipe my face with after we SLAMMED Paul Morton's version of "We Shall Overcome"! In my mind, I was thinking "Dang! I'm a lucky husband!" WHY WOULD THAT CROSS MY MIND AFTER ALL THESE YEARS!?
Then, she told me on the phone last night that she'd be at the concert sitting on the front row! What!? Support? Man.....whatever she's selling.....your boy is ready to buy (I think)!
OK.....NOW LADYWIZ......the "love note" was definitely from God. But you should have seen the look on Pastor Granddaddy's face the whole time that guy was talking and ESPECIALLY when I said ouch!
After all that hard work and drama to get Dianne here.....Pastor and one Deacon kept being negative talking about how much money the church MAY NOT make back, and wondering if this was a profitable investment and so forth.
Three more church members were in the hallway as I was getting "drilled" about them having second thoughts about bringing her and one of them came in the office and PAID FOR THE PLANE TICKETS WITH HER CREDIT CARD. Another gave me half of her deposit in cash....and another gave me the 2nd half of the deposit. After THAT little outpouring of support, the Deacon who had been questioning and going along with the negativity gave us $150 toward the hotel room!
DOES ANYONE ELSE UNDERSTAND WHY I AM ON A CLOUD TODAY!? ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!

But you just don't know how BAD I want her to find both of us. I'm 33 and planned (when I was 8) to be married with THREE kids by age 35. You can only have one a year! I'm late!

Now, sometimes we can see what we want to see rather than what God wants us to see. As Reddgirl stated, this woman needs, must have, don't mess wit her fo' real until she gets it time to heal. Until then, be there for her; reestablish your friendship (cause in the end, that's all that'll be left unless there's a 'miracle' of modern medicine); and connect as two people who love God.

OK. No more answering her phone calls this week, and hopefully she won't come to rehearsal and re-join the choir Wednesday night.
My goal WAS to leave April 23rd, and I think I just got tricked into sticking around just to be with, near, around, beside, in the vicinity of the sweet essence that is called Rachel! OH MY GOD.......I THINK I'VE BEEN BIT.........PLEASE GOD DON'T LET THIS BE A HOAX!

You are a BIG romantic and I think you have to be careful and take it slow to determine if it is a "HOLY GHOST setup" or an "Entrapment of the enemy". Don't be on a timetable. You are still very young. I would rather you get the right one than just one.

What about it?! It was your plan, not God's plan. Scrap it, toss it, throw it out the window. And, I'd REALLY pray up about the timing of this girl "coming back". Reddgirl said it already, it might be a 'Holy Ghost Setup' or it could be an "Entrapment of the Enemy".

Amen, Amen, and Amen again... Slow that train down... although it may me hard... you have got to take it slow with this one... The enemy is very cunning... and he knows how to get you... Make sure your focus is on God.... everything else will fall into place... The enemy knows how to get at you... he knows how to get at all of us... I would go over this woman with a fine tooth comb... get her to talk to you more... ask A LOT of questions... You gotta make sure that you are not walking on a thin tight rope with ice and banana peels on it....

I must agree with my fellow sistas. True love is not a force. Think about it. God could force this entire world to love Him. I mean, after all that's what He created us for, but He didn't. Why? God knows that true love is not forced it is willingly given! Patience is a virtue, and sometimes the best gift comes from obedience. Obedience is better than sacrifice. Peach, Please don't sacrifice

Peach, He that finds a wife finds a good thing.........you do the finding. An I agree with Redgirl, she needs to heal and take this time that she's alone to hear from our Father on the direction of her life. We do set time tables/goals for our life. Remember we are on God,s time, and his is eternal, not ours.

Herman, darling~I agree with what most people said about your situation with Rachel. As Reddgirl stated, you are definately the romantic and romantics tend to see situations through those eyes. :o
Talk to her a lot & learn how to be her friend first, but puuleeeezzzz do NOT get caught up in her drama! That can, of course, create more problems. :'(

Actually, with her this would be like a THIRD chance. When she was a "child" and lived with her dad, he kept moving from one city to the next. He was not into church and didn't necessarily care for her and her brother coming "up to that dang ol' church all the time".
But what's FUNNY is that after the play when we all went to see the new Madea movie, MY WHOLE CAST WAS COUPLED UP EXCEPT ME! Imagine Li'l Tyler sitting in a restaurant and movie theatre ALONE while his whole cast is coupled up out the frame. My sister (who I believe had a sixth sense even though I was laughing and smiling) left her friend and went and bought me an extra-large Coke with no ice....and brought it to me and sat with me for about 5 mintues, which was sweet....but when I thought about it, it kinda made bad matters worse.
SO.....when I got home (around 4am Sunday morning)....I thought to myself......."Man! After all this success with the play, it sure would be nice to have a wife to come home to and celebrate with!"
Then, I wake up, get dressed (looking like a 23 on a scale of one to 10 - not knowing anything), walk in church, and there is Rachel (whom I haven't seen in a couple of years) saying that she was "back at her church home to stay and there was somebody that she really wanted to be there to hear it who was not there".
Mind you, when I said "I wish I had....." I was talking to MYSELF, but when that happened, I thought in my mind "God....were you being nosy when me and myself were talking last night?" I just felt like WOW...maybe this will be the chance for me and her.......
HE THAT FINDETH? Well, technically I walked in church and FOUND :D her up there and I FOUND :D the box of Kleenex under the podium when she started crying (thank God for absent minded ushers who can't remember where they put something five mintues ago). SO, I am HE that FOUND twice!
Ok.........I'm overdoing it! I see your point Reddgirl! But in all sincerity, I am 35 and have had more than my share of "single folks' kind of fun". I am ready to settle down now and just do the marriage thing with a woman who is INCREDIBLY beautiful (even more than Karen Clark-Sheard....a compliment I give to NO FEMALE), can sing and hold an alto section DOWN....and is really into Herman - even after all the transitions we've been through in life!
Maybe I just want this so bad that I'm trying to make it happen by any means necessary, but if you had seen how she has "transformed" (tried not to say developed) over the years.....MY GOD!
It will be hard to concentrate on directing the choir Saturday night with her on the front row! Maybe I need to wear shades!? :D

Being in this situation now, I am already planning for a wedding, but I had take this and place it in God's hands. I'm feel like I need time to grow and I want to be mentally and spiritually stable to be in a committed relationship. I know you have a deadline, but really what is going to happen? Only God knows what he has in store for you. So if he wants you to be 39 and half and have reached marriage and 3 children, then so be it. He will work out! You know this!

Of course I find it cute and somewhat flattering that my favorite color, my masculinity, and my self esteem would all be questioned because I ran into a girl that I loved for many years....many years ago and looking in her face made it all come back! That's amazing!
If you love someone...and seeing them reminds you of just how much you love them still, you're not masculine...you have no self esteem...and God forbid that you are man who loves the color PEACH because it represents uniqueness (the essence of who you are).
And even after you explain it to people, they still don't get that a MAN loves peach because of it's uniqueness....and tangerine is not peach because it has more RED in it....and Salmon has more ORANGE in it.....only the perfect mixture of orange and white (with a hint of yellow if it's a true shade) comprise the color peach. It's unique and the true shade of the color is hard to emulate or duplicate but easy to playa hate....just like ME!
Yeah....I suggest a spellout to prevent a fallout!

Nah....when we talked after church yesterday that was her first complaint. Nothing at our wedding could ever be peach if God saw fit to let us marry EXCEPT MY GROOM'S CAKE...and then I'd have to decide between MUSIC or SOMETHING PEACH! Of course peach wins.............but I still love y'all musicians just the same.

As funny as you are man you should be waiting on Sis. Dynamite! You're too charasmatic to just be settling down with any woman. Bro. the one thing that I'm excited about and the one thing I think I did right was to to wait on my wife. Bro you got to make sure you're not going to want a new model in a few years. Seriously man whenever you want to get real. Bro you know our women be like to shop and run some credit side ways. How about most of started out wrong cause yo moma put the telephone in you name when you were twelve years old and now you got a $1,000 phone bill that you never ran up.
