Sorry to the Moderators as well. I will not post any more RnB stuff on here. I do have a question, So if we only can post Gospel releated stuff, then that means no Jazz, or other forms of music. Right? I want to make sure I get a understanding.

Well, the boundary is rather grey when it comes to this forum. I know for a fact that some of you guys posting other stuff don't really mean nothing by it, but then that it opens the door to alot of crazy stuff.

Ok, See the only reason why I would post R&B stuff like MaryJ is because of Gerald Heyward (drummer). Gerald Might plays R&B, but he is still a gospel drummer. I know where he plays when he home. Same thing with Aaron Spears. I also notice people post shed on here (including myself) or Jazz drummers. But is that wrong? But I understand that your guys are in the process of make the polices for us. I just want to get a clear understanding from what SisterT was saying.

no prob man you are one of very few that post clips! if thats all you have to post is r&b and you dont post no more, we will never have any clips on here!!!!!!!!!!!!! thats why i have'nt posted any in a while, i have a lotta r&b,i guess this will be a board without clips???? cuss it will be rare to catch a nice gospel performance live unless we will shre gospel cd's which we all proly have the same stuff!

I feel you..I listen to rap alot...but I dont listen to the lyrics at all.....I hate rap(lyrics)..but the beatz and musicians be so tight...and they give me ideas on my music cuz i make beatz....Like..Kanye West is a inspiration to me in the music not the lyrics

i feel you j,that has happened to me, for example in the gym, i cannot control what they play,and the other day i started singing this rock and roll song that came on,my boy was like that is sadd, we know all these songs!....so i understand,like i said, i respect you guys for not wanting that on here, but the people who put the clips on here were only doin it so we could enjoy the music(drums) not to promote r&b artist,its all love man.and congrats to you on the mod title!

When I was like 16, I got a summer job at a theme park. I never listened to rap (still don't) but I bet you I could still say word for word ever song on some of those early N.W.A. albulms, just because I had to listen to it everyday.
We can say that lyrics don't have any effect on us, but it does.

I've never heard you play but I do enjoy listening to good love songs like the first 2 cd's that musiq soulchild came out with. Just to know that you played for him is good enough. I think Musiq would be a phenomenal Gospel Singer for the Youth. He keeps it real. Ah man, let us pray... ;)

I know most of the stuff I have is instrumentals..but add me to the list...I can understand the concern as to not wanting to tarnish the integrity of the site.. any clips I post, I'll be sure they're good and wholesome...LOL...

That's right 4HisGlory...I'm not tryna to pick on Modern_Drummer, but this is true. I don't have any authority as far as what the answer to this issue is, but I appreciate the fact that I can come to a site that is ONLY about GOSPEL: Hence the name LEARN-GOSPEL-MUSIC.com! This is definitely not a LEARN-RNB-MUSIC.com! If you wanted to do that you can go to every other site on the web!

People need to guard their minds! You work on jobs with people who aren't saved, and they talk about all types of stuff. However, you're about to(or should be able to) block it all out/keep it from changing you, and do what you need to do. It's the same with music, I feel. Also, it's not like you're doing this all alone anyway. If you have a relationship with God, he'd bring things to your attention. I mean, I doubt anyone in here is listening to Marilyn Mansion for musical ideas! Let's not make statements like that, without fully examining them...
The way some of you people sound, you'd have to live in a freakin' convent/monastery in order to remain in the will of God. You all watch TV! You do all kinds of things, and are exposed all types of ungodly images .. however, you don't become what you see. The majority of the WORLD'S population isn't saved, and yet you live a saved life within it. What is more powerful than being around people who are living a totally different lifestyle than you are?!?! If what you listen to, if it be negative, doesn't turn you off - then you need to leave those things alone until you can look the Devil in the face, spit it in, and not be affected by his evil presence.

And the difference between someone talking on my job about something that I don't want to hear and someone talking, singing, rapping with music assistance...is MUSIC! Music makes people more receptive and indulged in the message! As a musician I would expect for MaestroDivine and others to know that.
In all honestly, God himself could come down and say it was wrong, but SOME folk still would disagree. Why? Because some people will do whatever they want to do. I don't care if it's your job, or if it's music ... if it appeals to you, then you will be most receptive to it. Adding some sweet music to a song about sex .. isn't gon' make you go out and have sex, anymore than your co-workers talking about it at work. Words are POWERFUL ... but you DO have a will of your own. It comes down to individual responsibility. If you're weak in an area, and you choose to be around that thing, then that's YOUR problem. For example .. growing up, all of my friends drank and smoked weed. Every day and all day. I NEVER smoked & I never drank! Never. Not once. Never felt tempted. I listened to rap music that glorified such things. Never changed me, ONCE!
That was not my weakness.
I did have weaknesses, but it didn't make me do those things. I did those things because I wanted to do those things, and I listened to that music because I like music that touched on those subjects. Yes, I'm being vague. However, my weakness is irrelevant.
My point ultimately is ... every man/woman have to know themselves. You have to accept some responsibility in your own life. Stop with all of this .. the Devil made me do it ... or I killed them because I listened to this song. That was within you, and that's what made you gravitate towards music/company that promoted/indulged in such things.
See, everything that the CHURCH has deemed ungodly, isn't necessarily ungodly. Point Blank. Every "rule" that Christians adhere to isn't Biblical. It's just that many Christians are drones, and just accept things just because their Pastor said so. Does that make it a Divine Mandate because he believes it to be true? Can he not be in error?
I do not advocate being in an environment that would 'cause you to sin. However, people DO have to grow at some point. If you can't live in this world, and among it's people for fear of sinning - then you have a lot of work to do. We do not live in a Christian world ... and if you can live saved in a world that promotes ungodly ideals, then you can listen to some music that does the same. I don't see how music can be placed at the the top of the Totem Pole of Evil Influences. It can be an influence - but it doesn't HAVE to be either. Memorizing lyrics, and becoming what you heard ARE ENTIRELY DIFFERENT THINGS.
You can't just say NO ONE can play secular gigs, because it'll turn them into a heathen. That's an ignorant and RELIGIOUS statement, in my opinion...

I look at the whole thing like this.....If you're not strong enough to listen to any kind of secular music, then don't! If you don't like to listen to secular music, then don't! If you don't want to listen to secular music, then don't! But don't condemn anyone else if they choose to do the opposite.
