I've been reading through the post and i see that most drummers in forum use sabian cymbals. Me personally im a zildjian man myself... I just wanted to know why so many of you choose sabian over zildjian?
-
I'll play whatever sounds good, however, Sabian just offers more consistent 'good sounds' to my ear than Zildjian. That's not to say that Zildjian does not offer anything that is 'good' to my ear. I have two Zildjian cymbals that are in my collection. They are as follows:
12" Zildjian A Custom Mastersound Hi-Hats
18" Zildjian A Custom China
Those two are exceptional cymbals (in my opinion), but again, if I hear any cymbal and I like it, I'm going to grab it, regardless of the brand (well, maybe except for Wuhan - lol). ;D
-
I am a Zildjian guy right now. BUT, the Innovation coming out of Sabian is really winning me over. I am not seeing that from Zildjian.
God Bless.

For me being a Canadian (Sabian is a Canadian Company!) Ive always played their cymbals...But now its the popular thing to play. It seems like everytime I play something or switch to something it ends up becoming popular (Im not saying I cause it to be). I switched from Yamaha Birch to Tama Birch Star Classics before it was popular, now its popular to play Tama Birch (I like birch drums). Im thinking about switching to Zildjan or something else, I dont like playing the norm or sounding the same.

I own Sabian and Zildjian. I use whatever the gig at hand calls for. Most of the time it's Sabian though.

...uhh, yall should give MEINL Cymbals a test run. ;D

Byzance, Mb20, and Generation X are really tempting me too! haha. I just like being different. I dont want what everyone else has.
God Bless.

I guess I'm kinda silly in the way that I have all Zildjian Cymbals but I'm not sponsored or anything. I don't know why just a weird OCD kinda' thing :P
I'm diggin' the variety that Sabian is offering now.... I love my 20" K Custom Ride.. but that 21" HH Manhattan Ride has such a great stick sound!

Well I love the sound of zildjians more than any other cymbal but I do own a 17: Ozone evolution cymbal.

That must be a special order, because the O-zone only comes in two sizes: 16" and 18".
-
My fault, I meant to say 16". Check my pic in my post.

I use Sabians and like them and others above Zildjian is because of the sound consistency through size and model. Meaning that a 16" Evo is going to sound nearly the samein every store you go to. I also think they are more musical in modern music. I think that Sabian is standing on invotation moreso than Zil. This is why use tghem (... and no I am not endorsed by them).
I feel that Meinl is doing bi things right now as well. They would are my runner up sound choice right now (*even though I don't currently own any).

I know it's sabian vs. zildjian , but I love PAISTE. It's all personal preference!
-
i used to use sabians but switched to all zildjians... i like em better at least the ones i have, but im gonna have to get that ozone cause i dont think the zildjian a efx or zht cymbals sound anything like that, but i love my zildjians, specially my hybrid ride and 13" mastersounds and my oriental china trash.... :o
