Title: na na nana na bet you cant do this
Post by: diverse379 on April 25, 2006, 09:54:12 AM
I cant either yet but I am working on it

play any hanon but play it in triplets accenting the 1 so your count is  1 2 3  1  2  3  1  2  3     2  3

so each finger gets a chance to accent the one you really have to go slow to do this it takes a while to get

but it will take your playing to another level

i was amazed at my teacher yesterday he played the same exact progression but by changing the accent he made it sound caylypso rhumba merrangue timbao hatioan cuban mambo it was crazy '

he said that stlye is all about accents not simply chords we spend so much time on chords but accents is where its at if you only know one set of chords and all the accents you can get more gigs then the guy who knows 1100 chords and only one accent

This guy talked about doing that on one website but I forget what it was. He got that technique from a drummer I think.

Great technique diverse, it will definitely help I can't wait to try either. My teacher had me do my major and minor scales that way to put accents in different places to help smooth things out for when I bring it back to Common Time and it works everytime especially when I can't get that thumb under smoothly. Let me also suggest doing Hanon excersises chromatically or in different keys this will really help your fingering.
