Title: I'm new here. Any tips?
Post by: joelpiano on May 02, 2006, 10:24:42 PM
Hey what's up everybody?
I am new to this forum. I have been playing the piano for a year and a-half to two years now. I love Gospel music and I have recently for the past probably 6-8 months started playing in church. And I have loved it. I am glad that I have an ability that I can use for God.
Is there any basic tips thay anyone would be willing to share with me, regarding playing Gospel music on the piano?

Don't get frustrated with learning gospel music. It is something that takes time, patience, and practice. Practice makes perfect!!!

Those that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength as the eagle.

May God Bless,
Sincerely, ManofPraise(Recently came joined the site too)

Welcome!  This is a great forum for people just starting out (and for those of us -- like me -- who've been in gospel music for a while but are just in a musical rut and need to learn new things). I just want to encourage you to practice, don't be afraid to try something new, practice, pray, and oh did I mention PRACTICE?   ;)

Its good to have you! I agree with the other posts, but I think what most important next to learning is practicing. You can learn a song and think you have it, but if you don't practice, there's no room to expand and learn new things. Practicing is a good way to develop your own style.

WELCOME TO THE LGM FAMILY

KEEP THE ENERGY YOU HAVE FOR PLAYING FOR THE CHURCH. IT CAN SOMETIMES BE HEADACHE. JUST REMEMBER WHO GET THE GLORY. NOW SET ASIDE SOME SERIOUS PRACTICE TIME DAILY IN ORDER TO GET BETTER AT WHAT YOU DO. KEEP A PENCIL AND PAPER NEAR YOUR KEYBOARD, PIANO, ORGAN TO WRITE DOWN YOUR CHORDS FROM SIMOLE TO COMPLEXED AND PRACTICE THEM IN EVERY KEY :) NOW YOU ARE ON YOUR WAY TO BEING A GREAT MUSICIAN.

OH! DO NOT BE AFRAID TO POST QUESTIONS AND OR THOUGHTS THAT YOU MAY HAVE

AGAIN, WELCOME TO THE FAMILY.
