Whats the best gift you've ever received for a birthday, anniversary, Christmas, Mother's Day, going away, retirement, etc? And Why? And if its not too personal, who from?
*Was it well thought out, something you wanted for a long time, sentimental, romantic, or just plain practical?
Im not speaking of spiritual gifts, but you can list those if you want to, but dont forget the gifts you've received in a tangible form.

Other than the gifts from God...........
My girls weren't school and I was (& still is) an at home mom. Cleaning house & picking up after kids was an EVERYDAY ROUTINE! So, for my birthday my husband took off from work to keep the girls & manage the home, that I might have a free day to go and do whatever I wanted to do. This was the first time that the gift wasn't something "tangible" but one of "thoughtfulness". BEST GIFT EVER!
Sometimes it doesn't take stuff.....it's what you DO from the heart that matters most...........but that rock he got me one Mother's Day didn't hurt either! LOL! ;D :D
The next day, he was laid off from his job! LOL!! :D ;D :D ;D

I go for the spiritual gifts and salvation, the gift of the Holy Spirit, and the calling that God has given me.
As for tangible trinkets...
My 2000 Chevy Mailbu, paid for. My folks bought it for me as a present for graduating in undergrad and I do not have a car payment!!!
My last 3 game systems, I paid for myself when I worked.
My Xboxes (I had 2) one was broken so I sold it to EB got the second one
My Game Boy Advance- Nephews broke that...
and now my Sony PSP (I bought on Ebay for $30 bux). That was my birthday present to myself.

It was a christmas present. My husband took me on a cruise. It was the pampering that done it. I loved it. I had maids and butlers waiting on me..i i wanted nothing on this trip cause i had it. ;D For my birthday I got a caddilac car. I brought me some rims to go with it. On mothers day, I brought 2 cluster diamond rings for myself. {those are my toys} One christmas..my husband brought me a Ranch Style Fur Coat I got some minks hats one year. For my birthday one year I got me a Game Boy Advance .. ;) I have had a total of 5 Caddilacs down thur the years. On my anniveraries I have received jewelrys {different kinds of gold, cultered pearls, platiums, etc. all kinds.} Yes, I still give away some of this. I haven't work in over 20 yrs..so I dont have a retirement gift. I try to bless someone else if i can. Most of the things that I have recieved down thu the years people gave them to me or i saved up and brought..or my hubby got it for me. I never for those things. I don't wear this stuff much at all just sometime.

Maybe this one is because it was so recent, but not too long ago my best friend asked me to play for her church. She's not in charge and so she couldn't authorize any form of payment (which I didn't mind, because I appreciated the opportunity. But when all was said and done she handed me a card in an envelope. Inside the card she wrote the most heartfelt and genuine note and just basically said how much she appreciated having me as a friend. I almost broke down (held it together, though). I keep the card in my bible and when I need to, I read it again. It didn't cost very much monetarily, but it meant a whole lot to me.

Thanks for that Vangelist, I was just thinking about that the other day as I looked at the date I received my Bible.
My late grandfather was a minister in Sumter, SC. And for Christmas 1989 he got me a huge King James w/ Red Letter Bible and Concordance. Now mind you, I was only 9 years old at the time, so getting a Bible for Christmas was one of the last things I would've asked for or expected on Christmas. He was traditionally a money-giver. So thats what I was expecting, and when I got this Bible, I was like "Thank You," (with the most forced appreciation possible). Anyway, after I got back home, I kept on focusing on the siaze. It was just so big, it was definately one of those Bibles that I saw preachers use (hint). But I complained about the size of that Bible so much. I still used it though. I took it to church and didnt want to use those cheap church Bibles anymore. (Did I say that out loud). I went through some times, more like years, where it sat on the shelf more than it got opened. And now, here I am today, almost 17years later, Im 4 days away from finishing the entire Bible from a One-year schedule I found in the back.
Wow! Not what I was thinking about when I started this thread, but that gift looking back, is one of the greatest Ive ever received. Its paying dividends, 17years after I received it. Thank You Grandpa Joseph.

Spiritual godmother. She has helped me to be whom I am by keeping it real and not giving up on me..
Also, I'm a Cowboys and Tar Heels fan, so my friends got me a jacket(TH) and a throw(CB) for a Christmas present. The funny thing about that, they are not fans of the sport(s). I thought it was cute and sentimental b/c they gave them to me at a time when I was very ill and wanted me to have them so I could perk up. And you know, the gifts really mad me smile. It made them feel better also.

Anything from my boyfriend...just because he is the only guy to ever buy me anything. He suprised me recently by coming to see me! I'm going to keep praying things stay on track...
