I called GGC, and they said that Butch's brother played there, but he didn't.
Why is it so difficult to get a hold of this dude? Butch Woodie is like Keyzer Soze! Ya'll sure this dude actually exist's?? ;D

Have u tried performing a search on the internet? Or you can try contract Gospelchops.com or whatever site he is on. You can also search and see if he has a web page. Otherwise...ionno.

He did play there... But not anymore. Butch has played so many places it's crazy, he moves around a lot in St. Louis. The one place you can find him for sure is musicians events, like the ones that are usually organized by Greg Haynes. But yeah, he's always been a mysterious cat and I think he likes it that way. Seems to enjoy showing up out of nowhere to surprise everybody and killing it on the organ and then disappearing until he pops in again the next time.
If you really want to contact him though, I can probably put you in touch. Keep in mind though that he usually stays away from the limelight instead of trying to call national attention to himself. I think he would actually be pretty unhappy with the way people are hyping him up on this forum and comparing him to everybody else.
Oh yeah and, I know you've already heard this from a bunch of other people but, I'll say it too; I'm not even living in St. Louis right now, but I can still say hands down that, out of all the organists I've heard in all the different cities, and everything I've ever seen or heard on the internet or on recording (and I have seen some SICK stuff), Butch is still the best I've heard. Ever. Hands down.

I'm just interested in hearing him play. I mean, I don't feel I'm asking for a lot, you know? If you're that gifted, someone has recorded you at some point. If I could get some clips of him playing, I'll be satisfied with that. If you can get me in touch with him, I'm sure that wouldn't be too big of a problem, you know??
As far as I'm being THAT great - I'll be the judge of that. I just want a chance to just hear him, that's all. ;D

.....and I bet, Butch may get a little satisfaction out of showing up unexpectedly; however, it's done moreso out of necessity. To lessen the likelihood of tons of musicians showing up harassing him, he has to pick his spots. I'm tellin' you, I'm one of those musicians who have a SEEMINGLY endless number of fanatical admirers & an equal amount of guys who wish I would just die(literally). I know what it's like to be harassed & to never be able to just show up and watch. I'm a loner myself - and I don't like being hounded about chords, and practice techniques. I don't like gettin' nasty looks that scream, "You think you're all that!". I don't mind helping ... but, dudes just take it way too far. Everybody want's your numbers. I had dudes callin' me at 4 in the morning, tellin' me they were working on a song, and wanted me them "phatten it up". Heh....whatever...

Butch is like the Lock Ness Monster....Everybody says they've seen it......Nobody has proof. PLEASE post something of him playing so we can all back you up when you say he's the G.O.A.T.
