Got your attention, now. Great.
OK….peep this.
I have the privelege of working with some wonderful people who all sing in their church choirs (which is obvious – but not “so” bad if you catch my drift).
For the studio, I know how to “rig” my way around what does and doesn’t sound “polished”…..but I want to start driving “POLISHING” into the rehearsals without possibly destroying the flow of the anointing. Saturday’s rehearsal was a “pick folks up and take them out” experience at the end….and even with the flow…..the “polish” was not applied according to what I heard on tape.
So, between now and Saturday I am trying to come up with new ways to tactfully “apply shoe polish”. Got any good ones? If so, please share. Thanks.

Why? Is it that awful that you would need polish? Why not just let us experience what happened?
-
Not that. I am just a bit over-ambitious. I know where I want to see things go (musically) and some shoe polish will have to be applied to make the shoe LOOK worth wearing to a total stranger. Otherwise, only I will really know how much I paid for the shoe because its value won't be as apparent. Feel me?

I guess I would have to hear it I understand some what to me (on the outside across the world looking in) it seems it would make more impact. I can understand though making it to be all that it can ;D

Here are some not so obvious and very tactful techniques and guidances I have used to apply the much needed polish to Various Groups. If I might give you a few points:
* Try some blending exercises...have one person begin singing a straight note, have another person come in, singing the same note
without changing the volume, sound or the pitch......I use to do it one by one and tape it so each person could hear themselves.
* Always put the best vocals in row 1 directly in front of the microphone...Always!!!!!
* I know you are probably doing enunciation exercises with the group but try individual enuciating exercises so people can hear themselves and the way they pronounce the words they sing. For instantance AAAAAA sound should be sung with your mouth in the shape of an O....It is best practice to keep your mouth in the shape of an O instead of in the shape of the wide smile because the words often come out sloppy. (Sometimes people will self correct these issues when uou point them out, other times they cannot hear and do not understand) Always add the last letter to your words.....
* I have always told the choirs, groups, praise teams etc.,I have trained if you do not know or if you cannot hit your note...open your mouth (make the motion like you are singing) but don't let anything come out.
*Final thought...there are studio quality vocal people and then there are people who are great group members but are not vocally suited for studio work.
I hope this helps!!!!!!!

I told you before VT...... great minds, great minds
Great minds produce great wealth.....
As Donald Lawrence said

Yeah, write a book, score your film
Somebody's getting ready to walk right in to their inheritance

One of my MOST favorite sayings is:
The circle of a man's life is measured by the circumference of his own self imposed limitations!!!!!
If you can imagine it you can do it!
This is what I tell my children...well my 2 adults and my one teenager. I trueGreat minds produce great wealth.....
