Post by: j_kay on June 09, 2006, 12:51:13 PM
Approximately two weeks ago, I had the honor of getting a brand new Pearl Masters MMX (#151 - folk who knows Pearl will know what color that represents) - 10", 12" and 14".  16"x22" bass drum, also.

Here is a listing of the cymbals that I own and use:

Sabian 7" Mike Portnoy Max Splash
Sabian 10" HHX Evolution Splash
Zildjian 12" A Custom Mastersound Hi-Hats
Sabian 13" AAX Fusion Hats
Sabian 16" Hand Hammered Dark Crash
Sabian 17" AAXPlosion Crash
Sabian 18" Hand Hammered Dark Crash
Sabian 18" HHX Ozone Crash
Sabian 18" Vault Crash
Zildjian 18" A Custom China
Sabian 21" Hand Hammered Raw Bell Dry Ride

Snare drums[/b][/u]
5"x14" Virgil Donati Signature Snare Drum (4 plies of Maple and 4 plies of Birch) - made by Pearl
6"x14" G Maple (13 plies of Maple) - made by Tama Starclassic
7"x13" Akira Jimbo Signature Snare Drum (8 plies of Beech) - made by Yamaha

Okay, here's the point of the thread:  I have taken a few snapshots of my new kit, and I wanted to share it will you all.  I hope that you enjoy them!   ;D

Here is the link:  http://www.pbase.com/gt52248/inbox These are 'thumbnail' photos, so you may click on the photos to get a greater detailed view.  I took the photos with a Sony Cybershot (DSC-V3 - 7.2 megapixels), and resized with Adobe Photoshop 6.0.

Thanks, man!  Well, the Platinum Mist is sort of a 'champagney' color, and it allows the wood grain to be seen.  It's a really nice finish, IMO.

I got a really good deal on the rack, cymbal arms, clamps, shell pack and throne from Drums2Go!   ;D

Okay, the total was $2,947.89 (inclusive of the 6.5% taxation that Orange County charges).  The DSM 100 was $189 (I special ordered one, and picked it up on Wednesday, 06.07.06 (no pun to the Alphas - D, I see you chucklin').

Quit playing? Do I really have to? Then I better not buy any drums then... hahaha. Just Kidding. I would love to, I want to drop nice cash on a top of the line kit, but, I have 1 more year to go on my BMW, 1 more year to go on my Business Loan and I will be doing good, those to bills alone equal $2000 a month. So...I gotta take it easy til then.

SECONDLY,

We are not in our own church, we are renting, so the other churches mess with stuff....I would not want them messing with a Top line kit. I would be too much to haul back and forth every service in my BMW.

God Bless.

DDRUM Dominion Ash and Maple are sounding mighty tasty too Sabe. I am waiting for a call back from my shop, but said he should be able to get me in range with the PDP FS. I am simply praying.

Yeah, that one year mark is close for me, too.  Have you gotten the "I want a new car!" itch?  I hate it, but reality steps in (regarding the remaining timeframe on the whip).   ;D

...lovely kit.  Welcome to the Pearl Family. ;D  I see you have the straight Icon side rack.  How do you like it?  I finally got used to the curved side rack that we have back at church.
