Title: Old gospel hits
Post by: drkandic on June 11, 2006, 05:10:11 PM
Does anybody remember what choir sang these songs below? My choir is having a reunion concert and I cannot remember the artist for these songs.

Here are some of the lyrics:

The first song:

He that hath an ear, let him hear, let him hear. He that hath an ear, let him, let him hear. What the Spirit says to the church? What the spirit says to the church.  Behold, I stand at the door and knock. Knock. And Knock. Knock.  He that hath an ear let him hear..... (repeated)....I will sup him and he with me open the door and let him in and let him...Listen to the Spirit what it says to the church.

The second song:

Time is Winding up, time is winding up, time is winding up, time is winding up. Get your business straight because time is winding up.  There's no time to waste because time is winding.

Lead sings: Nation against nation
Choir sings: Kingdom against kingdom
Lead sings: There shall be famine
Choir sings: Pestilence and destruction

(This is repeated)

Special: Get ready, he's coming, he's coming back again.

The third song:

He's alright, he's alright, he's alright with me. He's alright, he's alright, he's alright with me.  He's just alright. He's just alright. He's just alright with me.  I found him and I know that he's alright with me (this is kind of repeated the whole song).

More than likely these songs were in the late 80's or early 90's.

Hi !  Actually, the lead choir director still sings your last song at our church.  Different lyrics though... She says... "I've tried him,I've found out, He's allright with me..." and then she also subs with "Jesus' alright, Jesus' allright, Jesus' alright with me!.  That's as best as I can do for you though... the piano player plays strictly by ear - maybe this will help jog someone's memory though  :)  Good luck!  I know of a "Holla back" song you might like.  Do you know "I don't know what you came to do"?

Can't believe I missed this one...

The first song...

That's none other than Keith Pringle and the title of the album it's on is "Perfect Peace" (with the orginal "Perfect Peace" on it recently recorded by Marvin Sapp). The album is out of print.

Ok, I'm back I think (emphasis on think :D ) the second song is "Time Is Winding Up" recorded by Rev. Milton Brunson on the album "Available To You" or "There Is Hope", can't remember which one.

Alright, I wrote the last time that I think Rev. Milton Brunson & The Tommies recorded that version of "Time Is Winding Up" and I just wanted you to know that I'm certain now. I purchased the album, "Available To You" and the song you were inquiring about was on it. Hope this still helps you out even though it's a late response.  :)

OK I'm VERY late, but The second song is "Time is Winding Up" by Lynette Hawkins-Stephens from her debut solo album entitled "Baby Sis" from 1987.

As far as the third song, our choir used to sing this, and I know I know it, but I cannot think of who sung it for the life of me!! If I think of it I'll post it! :)

You are so right Loopy! I only listened to the chorus of Brunson's song and that was it but it didn't contain the rest of the lyrics the poster asked for. Thanks!  ;D

I know I'm late, but I finally found out who recorded "He's Alright". The Bay Area Chapter Choir of the Music & Arts Seminar recorded it in '87. :)
