Yo drumzalicious ya got some nice chops... Watch your timing and keep working on your chops. I love your up side... Is Pete one of your mentors? If so your under some good teaching.. Keep on doing your thing and stay blessed, Nate J.
-
uhh...young man u sound pretty good. I likes!
uhh...your guy Pete...well he's a beast. I likes!
Good stuff :)
Thanks for sharing!
-
WHOA you was killin but yeah be care ful on the timing you had GREAT chops
ya boy PETEY WAS A BEAST thats ol dude from gospel chops ey?
-
You got good chops dude. Keep it up.
-
Nice stuff Drumzalicious! Your timing was nice as well your trued some over the bar stuff or got caught with a few too many notes sometimes. I like the space that you intionally left at times... some may have mistaken it as timing being off but those were intentional.
I really like how loose and relaxed your hands are. I can see the Chris Coleman influence on the hats.
Work the left foot man... work the left foot.
What kind of kit is that? I could not tell from the finish and badge.... and that is really erking me. Also what Sabian HHX hats are those and what size...? THey sound great and look big like 15".
Pete was blazing... I noticed he does the list twist Dave Weckl does on double strokes.
Same thing the left was missing.
Your boy Clarence has a nice touch and musicality but had some booboos with placement.
Nice stuff overall. That is how you get better. Man, me and my boys need to get together like that more - HINT, HINT ;) ;).
Thanks for the post man. Keep it up.
-
Thanks for all the comments guys. the track i had problems with timing wise was the alicia keys joint mainly because i dont believe they actually played to a track. so of course it would have been a few issues but other than that i do appreciate all the compliments and critisisms because thats how i/we get better.
also pete is kinda a mentor but more so a buddy of mine.
i forgot to mention it :D but Chris Coleman came by later in the shed and my boy John videoed me jamming with Chris on the Bass. he also videoed Chris on the drums i will find out if he is going to post it or not for you guys.

I don't think thay played it to track either based on Paul John's MD interview. Don't get so use to a click track that it becomes a crutch. Music is supposed to breath an naturally align. You have to listen for the emotional ebb and flow of a song and play the moment. In those cases less aggression is more fitting. Let the moment dictate the phrasing and response.
I still liked your overall timing.
I look forward to seeing the Chris clips!!!

Did anyone other than sabe and me see the clarence guy as well? I really like his feel/concept outside of his fills. I enjoyed most of his fills too, but there was something about his groove playing that caught my attention. I think it was his ability to put space in between his actual playing. That space spoke volumes to me. He has a lot of that Calvin Rodgers feel in his fills, but I was impressed more by him just playing that groove.
-
No, I didn't get a chance to see his clip. I will, however, peep it and give my comments on it, S.B.! ;D

I could see it in the hihat work most but the toms rolls have that Chris articulation as well. That is a blessing to study under a master like Chris Coleman.

Didn't it though. Clarence is going to be on the money train down the road. That guys musicality and feel is nice.
