Title: Your Choir/Group
Post by: nessalynn77 on June 29, 2006, 06:56:43 PM
What song can your choir and group sing extremely well no matter what?  I mean like with no practice, missing members, I mean you can wake them up in the middle of the night, and they would kill it?

We have a couple but they've become insurance songs, so anytime we're unsure if we can pull a song off, we fall back on the same couple of songs, and we've really worn them out!  :)

One is "He's Able" (that's embarassing because that song is sooo old, and sometimes I feel like we sing it like it just came out)

The other is "Stir up the gift" (see above)

Oh, and I forgot "You've been so faithful"

I would say that "He's Able" is the reigning king of songs!  Bishop Cole

wow,we got a few.Just last night we had to sing at another church, and with the holiday weekend,a few had went away, but we knew we were going to be a lil thin, but we still had know problem doing our thing, you might say.We sang:

Trouble in my way
I'll go( by myself if i have to go)

But on a reg,we'll do(at last minute):

Lord do it
Hosana
High and lifted up
Holy Ghost Power
You are
all night
bread of heaven
Be a fence

yea,we like to act up and get our shout on...this is only when we have to sing combined.

My chior the male chorus,we got a list(not bragging)but we(the men) came a long way,in faith, disceplin, and unity. Now our pastor request us more than most of the other chiors, and we don't mind,we got a bunch of (love to sing for any reason )singing men. Were the only chior in my church that sings just about for everything in our service on sunday. We kinda started a trend with the other chiors to sing more, and to be ready for anything, anytime, anyware.

again, not bragging, just proud of my brothers in the Lord.

Hi, Ness!  I'm not really in a position to respond to your question since our "group" is just 3 people at this stage of the game.   ;D ;D ;D  But, I can certainly identify with having to sing those really old songs.  At my former pastor's church, our choir had rehearsal pretty much every Thursday evening and almost never sang any of the new songs we'd rehearsed.  It was particularly embarrassing that we'd go to fellowship meetings with other churches and be asked over and over again when we'd learn new songs and get new lead singers.  It goes without saying that my pastor's daughter and her intended (now husband) led most of the songs that we did sing on Sundays.  ;D  Ahh, yes, the good ol' days...

Sybesq, you had me crackin' up.  When I was a kid at my dad's church, we only had a youth choir and I was over it.  We learned this song called, "Sing a New Song"  It had no lead (or we sang it without the lead) and it was really easy for us, being amateurs and all.  Well, we sang it so much, one of my friends from another church told me one time, "That's exactly what I want y'all to do, SING A NEW SONG"   :D :D :D

Hey I am from Jamaica in the Caribbean..our Youth Choir does "Perfect Praise" by Walt Whitman, The Lord is my Shepherd by Hezekiah Walker, Revive is Again by Shirley Caesar with their eyes shut..however for the rest we gotta run them over..well it depends on the keyboard player that is accompanying us.

We are the United In Christ Fellowship Center's Youth Choir called Unity.
our choir director(chosenandcalled) forgot to mention our songs.

" I will bless the Lord at times" by Joe Pace and the Colorado Mass
a song that she partially wrote but we sing is "say the word"
me, and my Lord and I

Some really easy songs to teach the youth choir would be:

Clap/Shout- Shekinah Glory
Highest Praise-Judith McCalister
I will bless the Lord-Joe Pace
Bless/Praise The Lord With Me-TD JAkes
Victory-tye Tribbett
Bless The Lord-Tye Tribbett
Grateful-Hezekiah Walker
Let's Celebrate-Timothy Wright
God Is Great-Kevin Davidson
Right Place-Rudolph McCissick-This is a REally Good One!
Pressure Into Praise-Lucinda Moore

That's the one's that i taught recently to the youth choir, we sing mostly upbeat songs, b/c the praise and worship team sings right before them on 4th Sundays when they sing...  If u  need to know some hymns then let me know.... Hope this helps, GOD BLESS!!!
