Not my cup of tea.
I'm a Chris fan and all, but as far as I'm concerned, this one could've stayed in the vaults.
....also, why exactly is it called "National Anthem"?
Lastly, what was Chris and Meshell doing in that studio? Meshell must reaaaaally feel the music ............

Meshell is definitely connected, I could hear the Prince influence as well. The Sax was nice. I liked the track. Thanks for sharing.

Drum-n-Bass feel. Hypnotic... I diggs it. That is in a whole other plane of existance/mindset.

You know...
I'm starting to like this the more I listen to it.

you guys should check out Radiohead... Any of the more recent albums such as Kid A, Amnesiac, OK Computer, Hail to the Thief...
Sabe, I wouldn't say this is a drum and bass feel. if anything its a modern r'n'b/funk feel, but its generally just a close rendition of what Phil Selway (great drummer) plays on the original... Some of Chris' phrasing has that collapsed syncopation, so maybe that's where you're coming from.
being open minded is what makes Chris Great...
National Anthem is prob a cynical reference to national pride... left wing and not something I want to go into further on an American forum!
A lot of the clips posted here are chops fests and Im not entirely convinced any of it is musical...
I say lets stop drums being an athletics competition and start focussing on stretching the boundaries of creativity within music...
If any of you guys are wondering what gives Chris his edge it's because he loves rock, latin, hip hop, gospel, jazz, electronica... Not just gospel and certainly not chops!

Hmmm... the site is fine. When I click the play track icon it errors with a "operation timed out" message.
