That's a really cool lesson.  CJ explains it much better than I ever could!  I love his facial expressions!  You can really tell he loves to play!  I have too much of a 'poker face' when I play...lol!!

Can anybody explain to me what he did to his bass around the 3:52 mark...It made a warped-like/harmonics sound...anybody know what and how he did it? ?/?

Addict...he just bent the trust rods to make the bass next move.  Wouldn't recommend that to everybody depending on what time of wood your manufacturer uses and how often you want to get you trust rods adjusted.

CJ,

Did and awesome job of explain and giving us those jazzed up chords but if you want to make them phatter, ad the 5th, and  the 10th for the major and add the same 5th and a b10th for the minor.  This works if you have 5 or 6 string.  These chords will stretch across 5 strings.  5 note chord!

Peace,
T.J.

This is not an easy stretch for your fingers so here's a hint for fingering across all five strings.

Shoot the bird!  I know this is a gospel site but it's like giving someone the finger.  Let's say the devil but anyway.  Shoot the bird.

Your middle finger will bar the 5th and the root or 1
Your pointer or prophet will catch the 3rd
Your ring finger will catch the 7th
Your pinkie will catch the 10th.

Now play each string individually.

Yup, totally agree.  Not a good habit to get into.  Nobody likes tweaking their truss rods on a regular basis, so I would avoid doing it too often.

definately don't bend the neck, if you want to achieve that, you could put a tremelo bridge on your bass like  Victor Wooten has on one of his.
