Amen. I put it on and tried to play along shortly after I got it and I was like >:( lol.
But it forced me to learn how to play in E Major. It doesn't hurt that just about every song is somewhere between Good & Great.

I can understand B, but E???
When im on guitar its fine, not when i am on keys. In fact i prefer to play on E rather than play on B when i am on guitar.

I feel you, from what I hear, E seems to feature prominently in guitar, "it's as Db or Ab on the keyboard for gospel musicians"..
I like B because I get to use what I call "hand-slap chords" alot because I just slap(ok, I just lay my hand, i don't fight with the poor board!) all the black notes with my RH whilst holding the B with my LH & I'm sure we all know how sweet that sounds 8)
At 1st, E felt very weird, but I guess I told myself I want to like it since most people have waged some type of war against it..
It feels very natural to play in for me..it's better than D & A 4 me (& 4now).
look, now U'v taken all my attention Fenix :D
I wanted to thank T-Block & Ferrente again..i enjoyed playing these..
They seem to have some type of magic in them..
I know asking for chords is not orthordox, but I'm requesting anyway, for my own personal pleasure..That stuff really goes down well..it's like some drop of something sweet is being dropped inside of me when I play...blahblah ;D

Funny enough i prefer to play in A rather than E. When i need to play some Hez Walker, then i stick with A. When i need to play any other slow worship song i stick to Gb. Fast songs are reserved for Db. ;D Weird huh?

I love the way A sounds & it does have a nice feel to it, but I'd have to have practiced a song thoroughly to be confident enough to play hot stuff in front of an audience in that key (for now).
Gb is my default key, so we're on the same page there ;D 8)
Db is also cool for the fast stuff, & I'm not sure whether I prefer Db over Gb or V/v..so that part is not weird ;D ;)
-
think once I've practiced my scales properly, I'll fall in love with A..it sounds "pure" 8)
the key that was a big weakness was Bb, but now it's coming on par with the others, but gb is still way up there because It has a 1 year handicap over the rest ;D

For now, i steer clear of Bb, unless i have to play some Kirk Franklin. Its a difficult key for me to play in. Like you said, Gb is now my default for worship songs. Db is my default for praise or fast songs.
I also steer well clear of D...in fact so do all the musicians at our church :). We dont touch D no matter what, its crazy.
-
I don't mind E for slow songs, it's really nice...I especially like it when I'm resolving to a 2-5-1..but sometimes I hit 1 of the wrong notes if the song is fast because I haven't practiced the fingering as well as I ought to, but it's coming as well.
Since our profiles are so similar, do U think I'm correct in saying that based on the scales you practice in the most, 1 will have a specific preference of other keys above others (Gb & Db ove Bb &D) & people with similar practice habits (perhaps U & me) will shy away from specific keys (because they feel uncomfortable). :-\
But my goal for the mid-term is to be indifferent about all the keys..the number system is helping me out alot in this regard..

You know fellas, when I see requests like this, it kinda irks me a little. I mean, every key is supposed to be the same right? So, why not just ask for worship and praise chords in whatever key, then take those chords and learn them in every key? I guess maybe that's just me. ?/?

It is, to some degree.

U said it bro...
I know it irks me out too because everything can be easily transposed..Sorry 4 asking for the specific keys , i know how much I hate that :P :-[
Why don't ya break the rules & send the stuff in any key ya like..
I don't even know why I'm asking for this...I guess I need something external to bless me..
thank ya.

You'd leave my church.
If we learn a new song that we have to transpose it usually ends up in D, E, A, or G.

One (huge) advantage piano players have over guitar players with regards to our instruments is that the only thing keeping us from being able to play the same chords and progressions in every key is laziness and apathy.
There's some things on the guitar that you can only play in E because of the set up of the guitar. That's why E minor (G major) is also popular on guitar.
Theoretically you could use alternate tunings and capo's but sometimes that can only help out to a certain point.
The only thing I can think of that is key specific on the piano is the glissando you can do on the black keys in certain keys.

I've noticed that on certain keys (Db, Eb, Gb, and sometimes B) and certain chords (Gb/F# major, Eb/D# minor).

I understand what you mean T Block, but I guess sometimes it does help to see how someone else voices chords in unfamiliar keys. Sometimes when I transpose something to another key I do need to change the voicings. Today I will be playing a song in Bb and B for the soloist that I normally play in C and Db. I had to change some of the voicings to make it work. Maybe that is why we see so many of those posts for a specific key. Just a thought
-

Honestly, I use the same voicings for every key and it turns out fine for me. I rarely stick to one voicing anyway, so I learn all my voicings in every key. The only thing that may change is what octave I play them in, but my voicings are EXACTLY the same for each and every key.
-
I agree with both of you T-Block & Ladyn..
Just like T-Bloc, I play my voicings the same for all the keys..
But there are things/ chords 1 can do in the key of C or B that cannot be done in the other keys..
Maybe not 100% true, but what I meant to say is that some things can be applied in a few keys :
eg: Cb/Db-Eb-Gb-Ab-Bb-Db-Eb, we can apply this in the key of Cb, Gb (maybe Db ?/? ?/?), but can we still play it in this order in the key of E & get the desired sound?
anyway, all I was asking for are just nice progressions like above& I don't mind the key..I particularly like stuff that changes keys..
