Well for us, we have different choirs for the different styles of music.  We have more of a traditional style group and then we have a contemporary choir; most of them are in both groups.

we have youth, visions(contemporary),Braswells(trditional),Male chorus(however the spirit flows,we do it all)..But some of the adult from visions, help with the youth, and some of the Male chorus, help with visions...

and thats how it happens 4HG.
ps.and then there are the "FIATHFUL FEW"...

Why not have one choir, and send sing different styles?? :)

We do it not to burn out people.  Some people want to be in the choir, but not every Sunday, so they'll just say 'I'll do this choir'.  Some people just want to be in the choir as much as possible (like me :D )

That's a good question. I get burned out either way. We have 6 choirs (including 2 praise teams) and I have to play for them all ::)

We suggested that, but because of a few people not wanting to do it, and raising a big ole fuss  ::) ?/? about it, we didn't.  :-\

At my church, the mass choir is the only choir that you have to be able to sing really good to be in.  We have 6 other choirs for folks who are not vocally gifted.  We have the women's choir, the men's choir, the senior choir, young adult choir, the hip hop for Christ choir, and the jubilee choir.  Most of us in the mass choir sing in some of the other choirs to help out with vocals.

At my church, we have 5 different groups that sing. The Voices (adults), the youth choir, the Praise Ensemble, the Youth Ensemble, and the Mass Choir. I think it helps break up the monotony, and it gives some people a break in between times they have to sing. I don't get a break at ALL though, because I'm either playing, or directing when EACH of these groups sing! But I love it, though! ;D

Actually right now, we just have the one set of musicians that plays for everything. We are working on training other musicians to carry the mantle though. TJ you gotta get on your job, boy!!! ;) :D

4HG..are you bored???,lol, lol  I don't know about you,but i haven't seen to many church's that have musicians for each chior. But like i said,i think like vtguy,it helps break up the monotny, cause there's some who will sing every week(like me),and the ones who need a lil break.

We have two choirs: the one when hardly anybody shows up and there's like 2 voices for each section, and the big one.  You never know which one will be singing, but the big one usually shows up when there's a big event where people can get up and be a wonder.
