Ok dudes and dudettes. Its here!! The Vic Firth Rudimental Quadrants!! This is something that my Percussion instructor at MIZZOU used to whip us into shape. She used these as a part of her curriculum. Its great stuff to know and use.
Here is the description:
The "Logical Learning Sequence" for the rudiments was designed to give directors, instructors and students an approach to learning the rudiments that takes into account difficulty, inclusion of rudiments from each "rudimental family" and the popular usage. The 10 rudiments in Quadrant A form the basis for all of the other rudiments. Beginning students (or "first-timers" to the rudiments) should begin there and eventually progress through the other quadrants after they have achieved a medium level of proficiency ("silver or gold level").
This is great stuff and will truly benefit any player if applied correctly.
Study to show thyself approved!!! (very outta context but you get the picture)

Aight LGM JuSe is breaking out the foundation blueprint for us all. I am digging it. I just pulled these out for my students a couple days ago.
Like most of us here, honestly, I like hearing rudiments but I don't like practicing them (especially when they don't sound crispy). However, the Quandrant is a great way to get past that. It takes thes pressure off by giving you a "stairway" type progression so that you can see/feel the improvement as you go.
This is a good way to get back in the swing of things.... especially after watching that Sonny Emory solo, lol, where he builds from the foundamentals up.

There you have it folks! Endorsement by the forum guru.

Thanks JuSe, this Lady Solider is on it. Ditto to Sabe statement on Sonny Emory. Come on people the rudiments are esstential to drumming equivalent to a child getting their Immunzation Shots for growth and good health.
