when I first stated playing the organ,  I did my c scale with my foot to get used to the pedal. 

You are talking about on the organ right?

Practice the chromatic scale using the heel toe technique (heel on white keys toe on black).  Then practice fourths C, F, Bb, Eb, Ab, Db, Gb and so on.
