We play several songs from this artist, I've heard the recording of the songs we are playing. The bass parts are mostly difficult to me. so I work on those bass parts and just play my own part.

Yeah, because of the link to Israel Houghton, I think that Terrance Palmer (one of my favorite gospel bassists) does most of her bass work. I would describe his style as busy but tasteful. If you try to copy Terry lick for lick, you'll get dizzy, so I tend to do pretty much what you do. I understand what the song is doing and how it's moving and I adapt my bassline from the main structure of what Terrance does, but don't try to cop all his licks and add in a few of my own.

Terrance Palmer is a great bassist, I think Martha originally did this song, with Clint Brown, years ago, It may have been the "Judah One Live" CD, and Jamaal Andrews may have been the bass player.
Just to get a contrast, you can check out both, renditions of the song.

Ive heard this song when you posted it up and it does sound good.
The thing I like about Martha is that her band doesnt allow me to learn anything they play. (some songs they do) but songs like "No limits(breakthrough)" and "New Season" I must become a pro be4 I start playing those :D...Shes got one of the best band Ive ever heard in a slightly way of gospel music :o..As for Terrance I was listening to one of Israels tracks today and his riffs and licks were just too good to be heard running up and down those fretboard..(Slow song though)...He inspires me alot to work hard on my bass...Thanks for bringing up a topic related to Martha and Israel... :)
