IMO, the gap between MIA and MIM's is closing.  Check out this discussion form the Fender Discussion Page:

Who knows what may happen in the future.  Fender could decide to shift the majority of its mass produced guitars to Mexico while retaining the Custom Shop and perhaps the Deluxe series as American made products.  Even the Squier line has been getting better and have lots of features to offer.  Maybe the Squier Standard and Deluxe lines will occupy the marketing position currently held by the MIM's while the Afinity series will be firmly planted as an entry level guitar.

Sort of like the Honda that's built in Indiana ;D!  But do you feel that there would be a benefit to having Ibanez's made here?

I've played a couple Indonesian-made Ibanez's lately. Their quality is on par with their Korean-made guitars which is on par with some of their Japanese-made guitars.
If Ibanez made guitars here (besides the custom shop) they'd cost more than most could afford.
