Post by: illest drummer on September 15, 2006, 10:32:13 AM
i think it does. i saw calvin live with fred and they were singing some of his old songs. his music has a different feel to it than what marvin brought. is this a good thing?

Calvin does bring a different feel to Fred Hammond.. I believe anytime you hire new musicians those musicians are going to bring and add their creativity and feel to your music.  Marvin had chemistry with Fred that we the audience could feel. I believe that Calvin is developing that chemistry Fred that is a little different but yet bringing a different sound and vibe to the band. For the audience that is used to the oringinal sound it may take a while to get used too. However, Fred music is still providing his audience with a different vibe that is still contemporary yet authentic.  I was just at his concert about two months ago in New Jersey, Six Flags and Fred Hammond and the band did their thing.. I really enjoyed them and I am sure that crowd did too because Fred came off the stage he was called back because the fans wanted more. Just a thought.. Stay Blessed, Nate J.

The way I feel, you cant get on another drummer for having a different feel than another. I mean, I understand that everyone has their preferences, but Calvin Rodgers is just Calvin Rodgers, and The same for Marvin. Both are considered gladiators of the kit but they've both fought in different arenas until this point.
