From the first time you picked up your bass and said I want to learn how to play this. When did u finally say to yourself "I fianlly got it". 2 years, 3 years, a few months, what?
P.S I know everyone pick things up differently, or maybe played another instrument, which made it easier.

Glad to hear, you have found all the pieces of the great puzzle of music. So what was the last piece you recieved?
My piece was to trust in myself more and play what I feel in my heart. Because I've already own all the pieces, but by looking for more
I did not see I had them.
God Bless you man.

It took me about 18 months to finnally say I can handle this, it took my about 36 months to say piece of cake. I am doing this.

Opps sorry, I pray blessing upon your progress and may you continue to worship our GOD with your instrument.
Congrats.

Congrats, keep moving on up.... It took me about 6 months to get my foot in the door, after 13 months I realized that I can really become a compelling musician. Things are getting better daily for I have learned to associate music to things I understand. With every ingredient of that is the equation of one in another to the other and another elevating to…Ecstasy…

It took me about 15 months, mainly because I wasnt "serious" about being a bassis. The day I took it serious and really dedicated myself to it I saw a significant change. Also relying on my ear and kinda putting the theory on the back burner was a major turning point as well. After building your ear for so long you really have to LEARN to rely on it. God bless all!

Still not there yet. :(
I have many Eureka moments, though.

It's been about a year now and I've really been serious about my craft for about 5 or 6 months and I have alot of those light bulb moments where I say Ohhh Yhaaa now it makes sense. But it's now through the help of the Holy Spirit and consistent practice that I am really starting to pull some things together. Got aways to go but I'll get there, all the glory goes to God.

I have been playing for almost 14yrs now and I still don't think that the penny has dropped yet! I do consider myself as an able, experienced and confident musician, but there is still so much more I want to learn. I always want to keep that hunger and stay humble no matter how much someone big's you up.
I learnt pretty quickly as I had played lead guitar for several years previous to picking up a bass, so I had absorbed and practiced a lot of theory already. I did struggle with the physical aspect of the bass and that was my biggest step stone in the first few months. I guess the point came when I could genuinely call myself a 'good bass player' was after roughly 3yrs of playing. When you start to play on your own initiative and start being creative whilst sounding tight and fluent is a huge milestone as a musician. That's the begining of something that could turn out to be something very special and it's very difficult to turn back when that has happened.

Too far behind? God doesn't annoint the qualified he qualifies the annoited. But you know this.
If you are playing for the purpose of glorifing GOD and help the church members praise GOD by giving them a beat or a groove. Then it will all work out for the better.

What would make you not make your thread? There's nothing wrong with sharing info, and well that's the purpose of this site.
