Wassup lgm. Just wanted to get your feedback info on how ya'll like sheds or dislike them. From my point of view, I love them. Not trying to say that I can show off in them, but its because its like practicing at home, but all your friends and buddies are there playing around.Sheds are practice and it can heat up a little bit. There also funny because when someone mess up and go"ahhhhhh", its really funny but cool because you're getting your licks chops, or grooves together.Thats my opinion.Feel Free to write.
Excuse my Lateness if this was posted a minute ago :-\

Personaly I feel like Cats that hate sheds aren't really good at them. No offense. Sheds are like Free style rapping for those of you who are into hip hop. There are always guys that can write down things and make it sound good in the end, but sheds are about what comes to you off the top of the dome. It's a fun thing, doing what ever's on your mind, and battling with your peeps. It helps you to think quick and on the spot while it expands your chops and helps you enjoy doing what you do. People often forget that if you're not having fun playing drums or any instrument then honestly you shouldn't play. Dont get me wrong I love the pockett!!! But sometimes it's cool when you get to let loose what you've been practicing all your life while a whole bucnh of other great drummers around you are doing the same things...

....wrong answer!!! I know many guys who have better things to do then go to a "Modern Day Shed" and show off all of their licks to get the "Oooh Weeeh Crowd" to jump up and cheer.
...is the Modern Day shed cool to watch? Yes. If you choose not to do it does that mean you can't do it? No.
...some people prefer to jam with a complete band then to get with a bunch of drummers and trade fours. Sorry, but I had to clear that one up for ya.

Sheds are ok. depends on the purpose. To make yourself feel good or for genuine practice

THEY ARE FUN
BUT
SHOULDN'T BE JUST LIKE HOW YOU PRACTICE AT HOME
AND SHOULDN'T BE HOW YOU JUDGE YOU PLAYING OR YOUR FOCUS/PURPOSE IN PLAYING
I THINK SHEDS CAN GET PEOPLE IN SHOW OFF MODE ACCROSS THE BOARD SO THAT WHEN THEY LEAVE THEY MAY STILL BE IN THAT MIND FRAME TO CRUSH EVERY TIME THEY SIT DOWN RATHER THAN PLAY THE MUSIC- BASICALLY LOOKING FOR EVERY AND ANY CHANCE TO GET OFF!!
BUT AGAIN THEY ARE FUN
JUST HAVE TO KEEP EM' IN THEIR CORRECT PERSPECTIVE

SHEDS ARE COOL TO WATCH IF YOU'RE INTO WATCHING A TON OF LICKS ALL IN YOUR FACE....
I CAN SAY THAT THEY ARE AN EGO BOOSTER IF YOU'RE GOOD AT THEM...
BUT I'D RATHER WATCH A BAND GROOVE AS A UNIT...
I RARELY EVER SIT THROUGH A WHOLE SHED VIDEO CLIP WHEN THEY ARE POSTED HERE...
ESPECIALLY IF THERE'S MORE THAN ONE OR TWO DRUMMERS GOING AT IT...

I've only been to one "organized" shed, and I really enjoyed it while I was there. It was not just drums. There were keys, and bass, and horns...everyone did their thing. the environment was also very positive. That may just be that the organizers did a good job of planning it, and that was not the norm. But sheds like that, I am all for them. In fact, I have a few on the board, along with some clinics I plan to put together for next year.

Sheds can be great if done the right way.
It can be an exchange of IDEAS. It can inspire you to learn things that you don't know already. But it only works if you're sheddin' with someone who's:
1) Creative
2) Willing to learn
3) Willing to show you what they know.
You can't put ALL sheds in the same category.

sheds are coo but im a 110% team playa so i practice to accomodate da other musicians, yea i'll admit i'm not good at solo's or shedin but thatz cuz i don't practice that stuff, i practice straight pocket licks and thatz wat i'm known for and i'm coo wit dat, other drummers respect my playin, but i more so look to gain da respect of directors and other musicians...because those are my teammates during music ministry, not other drummers...so its definitely nice to be respected by ur peers, but u should look to comfort da musicians ur playin wit and they should be #1 because they're affected by ur playin da most not da other drummers thatz watchin u...i kno how it is u want to amaze da other drummers around u and thatz somethin i had to learn and like most drummers get caught up once in a while, but u gotta relax and be altruistic and want da other musicians to shine while u holdin it all together!

I agree with you! Shreds can kill also and that has to be remembered! Lots of awesome players can go home with the belief that they suck because they cant shred! I use myself....Thoes who know me know I can play any lick I hear (ANY!) ask me to shred heck NO! Im not good at shreding...My mind is always thinking fit licks musically into songs not solo, solo, solo, I even hate doing drum solos......Ive never been to a shred but I know how Id feel......Im not 19 any more ;D

The ""sheds"" I've attended/seen were all a pretty noisy waste of time.
If I gonna have 'fun', I rather jam with a band.
