Title: How do you explain what a shout is
Post by: JLBMusic on November 05, 2006, 07:58:57 PM
I've been playing shouts for years now so I know my way around a shout pretty good.  The problem I am having is explaing what a shout is and what to do doing the shout as far as piano.  How can I explain this?

Well, first you can say that you are playing shout chords, chords you use when people are up shouting.  Next, you can break down each chord you play, and name it.  After that, you can write out the bass notes you are using.  Once you have it all written down in notes, put it in number format so that people can learn to play it in every key.  This would be my approach to explaining shouting music.
