I think you get called to the music ministry in general and appointed to the actual position of Minister of Music by leadership.  Don't know, though, because I'm not an MOM.

This is my first post, but I figured I would add my 2 cents worth.  I believe you have to have the desire and passion to serve the Lord in this capacity.  When you are ready, the Lord will open up the opportunity.  My pastor appointed me MOM and many times I question my abilities, as I do not feel talented as some on this site, and somewhat inadequate.  I do however love the Lord, and can't imagine my life without song.  I honestly feel that I would die without this ministry.  I pray for strength and wisdom as this is a journey.  Please keep me in your prayers and I will continue to pray for all of you.  Blessings! :)[font=Verdana

I'll be sure and lift you up in prayer, it's a big job, but don't doubt your abilities, God gave you everything you need to be successful.

Music  has always been a big part of my life.  I'm sure every MOM can tell you some stories about how they got to where they are.  I can say this and some may disagree, but at times it feels like I'm pastoring a small church.  I'm not a pastor and really can't compare it to the enormouse responsiblity of a church pastor but I'm refering more to the attitudes you deal with, the problems, the changes, the ups and the downs.  GOD got me through it all.  To be honest I never wanted the position.  It seems like those who shun away from it get it, like preaching. (That's for all you bootleg preachers.lol ;))  Now I just go for broke in the Lord.
