Title: Help! New to preaching chords...
Post by: Miracles on December 08, 2006, 09:02:12 PM
Can I get a general theory behing "backing up the preacher"?  Do you stay in a single key or move around? Can I get some specific examples?

Thanks!

When playing preaching chords you usually play in between the words or sentences of what the preacher say..Unless the preacher is holding out words then you hold out the preaching chord if it be the correct time to do so in the service. You stay in the key that the preacher is preaching in. If the preacher moves up or down notes then you move up or down notes. Sometimes I'll move up a note even if the preacher doesn't move up a note just because playing in the same key for such a long time may sound boring to the congregation after a while. Just be led by the Lord..and for examples of different types of preahcing chords try the search button.
