Title: Strings to close to frets

I just bought a used Spector 5string which is in pretty good condition but the strings are way to close to the frets, if i hit an open string all i get is buzz.
how can i fix this ,new strings ? please tell me

It's not too hard but it's one of them things that if you don't know you don't know.

There's 2 ways to adjust this  (I'll steer you away from messing with the neck). On the bridge there is hex head screws 2 for each string there act as little feet that hold them at a height off the fret board. To raise them one my 3 basses I'd turn the hex head clock wise to lower on my 3 I'd turn these screws counter clock wise.

This adjustment should not be done by unless you feel confident that you can handle it. It's not hard It's just I understand it when people don't want to do these sort of things.

yup i have the same problem w/ one of my basses i took it to the shop and had them adjust the neck for like $5 or $6 bucks.  They said it was too tight

thanks for the concern ,but i got fixed at local bass shop they had to do some neck work and bridge work.
