I've been a member for a few weeks and I've just been reading and taking stuff in for a while... so I just want to introduce myself. I'm pretty much a beginner. I can listen to a song, find the key and key the melody and bassline and a even few chords here and there. I also know some basic theory like the number system, the diff between major and minor chords, inversions.... etc
I grew up Pentecostal, very similar if not identical to COGIC as far as the service and music, I've played around on the piano and on keyboards but never the organ. For some reason lately I've had the urge to play the organ, it just hit me real hard one day this past summer. I thought it was just a phase and maybe it would go away but it hasn't faded at all. So, I'm going to start some 1 on 1 lessons from a pretty good minister of music here in Chicago (SOUF SYDE!). I went and bought a Hammond CV to practice on at home.... I'm playing it through a tone cabinet right now but I can't wait to get a Leslie for it.
I've gotten a lot of helpful info from this forum and I'm looking forward to the day when I'll be able to contribute and help others as well. Keep doing what you're doing, you all are keeping a brutha encouraged!!
Blessed and never stressed,
Bro. K.
